Hi. It depends on the remote. If the remote app has the codes for your Sylvania tv, then you can use the remote. Check the list of codes that comes with the remote app and if it includes Sylvania codes, then there is a high possibility that the app will work with the tv. Thank you.

The Sylvania LC302SL1 is not a smart TV. You can only use an IR remote to control the TV. (A replacement remote is available here: https://www.walmart.com/ip/Replacement-LC320SL1-HDTV-Remote-Control-for-TV-Sylvania-Compatible-with-NH000UD-Sylvania-TV-Remote-Control/511772228 .) Otherwise, look for any universal remote that was programmed in 2011 or later. (Usually it takes 6 months or so for the universal remote manufacturers to get codes for new TVs. The Sylvania LC302SL1 manual has a copyright date of 2010.) There was a period when some phones and tablets included an IR transmitter. It is doing it because it is broken. You need a new one or take it into an electronics engineer.

Unfortunately, this set may not be worth repairing, it has a main and power board combo and your issue is in this board according to Funai, the parent company of Sylvania's service info. If you can find a board reasonably it should fix the set but considering its about 10 years old it may make more sense to replace the TV. It's also possible the screen was damaged when it fell, in some cases you can't see the damage.

An EEPROM is an Electrically Eraseable Programmable ROM. If the data is corrupt, re write the programme if you have the software to do it. They rarely fail. Check the 5/3.3volt supply.

Have Sylvania CR202SL8 TV with same problem. Cannot stop the scan or reset TV. It turns off at 15 minutes as designed when no action or signal. DId you ever find a solution? It had been in storage for years. Inititally, on power on it turned off on its own. Let it rest and retried and went in to Menu, I scanned the channels on antenna and worked fine for 15 minutes. Showed Now Scanning for seconds but image came back. Then it went into the Now Scanning screen and got stuck. It did once get to the menu (don't know if on its own or my trying remote control button combinations) and was able to restart the scan (DTV/TV option, don't have DTV only option)...apparently it scanned digital, but started scanning for on air channels and got stuck on Now Scanning.

it most probably is DTV ready, try googeling some on the subject, but since its a LCD tv from 2006 its most likely to made with a digital tuner. Note : if you have cable or satelite ( dish networks, Direct Tv and so on ) you are allready watching digital TV and do not need a converter box.
