Free harddrive recovery

You can check to see if maybe there is a firmware update for that particular laptop model. Sometime the manufacturer will go threw a third party for there burners. You can check by going to there website as well. I would also uninstall the current drivers and install a current version. Your drivers could be corrupted. Hope this points you in a good direction.

How do i download sony t5058159

Assuming it is an internal drive, and it's hooked up properly, most of the time all you need to do is reboot your computer. The computer will recognize it as just a plain disc drive without proprietary drivers, but it will recognize it. It sounds to me like you might have either a bad connection or perhaps the ribbon isn't pushed all the way onto the pins. Does the light on it blink when you start up your computer, before Windows (you are using Windows, right) starts up?

Burner working

What operating system do you have? The drive is fully supported by XP onwards and should be auto detected. You may have to delete the current driver in device manager reboot & Windows should install a compatible driver. (Start > right-click computer > properties > Device Manager > DVD Drives > Highlight faulty drive and delete > reboot) Also, WinXP does not allow you to burn DVDs unless you have appropriate burning software installed (e.g. Nero)

My cdrom makes noise when i insert dvd

What type of noise does it make? If you hear the tray close and then the disc "spin" for a minute or so, that is normal. If it sounds like something is shaking or rattling or lasts more than 5 minutes, there is probably something wrong. If it is an extended spin noise, the drive isn't recognizing the disc. Check if there are scratches and try another disc. If you hear a shaking or rattling, do not use the drive. It's probably better to replace the drive (check if it is under warranty - usually 1 year). This drive has an IDE connection. You will need to check your motherboard specifications to identify if you can replace the drive with a SATA optical drive (more common now) or if you need to find an IDE drive. (Note: OEM drives do not ship with the data cables or software discs, this will matter if you get a SATA drive.)Some optical drives have a problem with the magnet that holds the disc for the laser to hold it. Some people fix this problem with duct tape; at <$20 for a SATA DVD-RW OEM drive, it isn't worth my time to fix. I hope this helps. Please add a comment describing your sound and the computer you have for additional help.Cindy Wells

I have an lg external

CD/DVD drives will always show 0 bytes if there is no media present.
You will need extra software in order to burn DVD such as Roxio, Nero. I beleive the LG burners show come with software, you will need to install it in, and run it to burn DVDs.
Nero does offer a free version that will burn DVDs http://www.nero.com/ena/downloads-nero9-free.php
