You cannot fix this you will need a new one. They are not that expensive and easy to replace. One screw on the bottom of the lap top and it pulls out you are done. Or you can leave it and purchase a external burner USB style many people do this as well. I hope this assisted you. John

I recently did a disk
even if you find the disk ..you will not have a driver for this drive in there ..cause this disk drives do not have a disk for installation ..but they get the driver from windows..
You may try to get into device manager ..(right click on my computer /properties ...device manager )
and in there click right on the disk drive ..and choose update driver ..This will start the add new hardware wizard ...and during it ..you have to select that you will install it manually from a list ..and choose teh drive ..and after that select from windows list the driver by name ..but ...there is 90 percents chances that the drive will behave the same after a few minutes..The issue is with a virus that attacks the drivers for the disk drive ..and it is on the loose since 2 years ago ..and if it is the cause the only fix is to reinstall the operation system ..or use the recovery partition or disk to reinstall it ..
I can tell you this for sure cause I had this problem many times in various computers..and reinstalling is the only fix..
Make sure you format the C drive in the process..and do not loose time trying to install the driver cause it is a lost cause...I even downloaded the firmware for the drive when I first had this problem and didnt worked.the only solution is a fresh Operating system ..
My sony crx320ee cd-rw/dvd stop functioning
i would recommend uninstalling the drivers completely and reinstalling them, however most drivers for cd roms cd/rw are preinstalled, and the only thing you can update is the firmware for the device itself. you may want to try unhooking the drive and rebooting the computer, then turning off the machine again, and reattach the drive, and restart. that might force it to re-configure and re-load the drivers If you need further help, reach me via phone at

My crx230e will read but wont write. i went to
Often in an attempt to bargain shop we settle for the off brand of CD selections. Most of the time any CD will do , but in some cases, the drive just wont recognize the disc as burnable media. This may be the case in the problem your having.
Sony crx320ee can read CD
Spend $40 to buy a new CD/DVD reader/writer -- this is less expensive than paying a technician to try to trouble-shoot.
