there is a ver 5.06 of the client out by now, it is even win7 compatible, perhaps try upgrading to that version.

yes, there have been issues reported with early 5.0x and he was correct to test an older stable version.
The VPN tunnels work the same way with either version, therefore I would rule out your modem to be an issue.

If you are using the google chrome browser, there are a number of issues that would cause that error.
I would try testing with another browser to see if you can connect. ( IE, firefox, opera.)
if you can get to the net with another browser, google has posted this info.

usually the DSL would turn on if DSL connection is established. if you already replaced the modem. then your old modem might already be bad.

This is not a wireless router, so no you don't have wireless capability.

it doesint really matter if your connection works just get a new box thing and the light will be fixed i belive the price for one ranges between $10-$30 or so.

buy a new internet cord and if that doesint work then run a diagnostic

run a diagnostic and see what the problem is if it does not say then consult somone online.

take it to the store to have them look it over they will give you advise on what you should do and where to take it

How I did this was by typing my IP address into a browser.

Then had to log in then I could see everything what was going on and was able to change settings and add security WEP KEYS ETC...

You should try to check for shorted, cracked or loose connections on your telephone line and extensions(if you have one).

Once you've concluded that there really is no problem with your lines, then have your modem checked by your provider's support group or have your modem replaced.

I had the same problem after I tried the reset button. Just log on to the modem address 192.168.0.1 by typing it into the internet address bar. Then log in with your log on and password and the modem will be reconfifured and the light will come on and you wil be connected.

ethernet from the router to the computer.....open browser...goto address bar type in 192.168.0.1
a pop down login appears login/user= admin
password= password. now you are in the config page of the netgear. look for wireless settings tab and click it. scroll down towards the bottom and you will see a code in key1 ( the bubble should be filled in green). that is your encryption code right there in key1. also the maybe something typed in the PassPhrase box, which i would also right that down. once you have written it down close out of the browser, and remove the ethernet cable. now its time to view available wireless conncetions. so try to use the key 1 code first, you should be good to go ....if the key 1 doesnt work try the passphrase.

Does the DSL light come on at all when the modem is powered up?? If not, then it looks like the modem is bad.

When the modem is first powered on, all of the lights should come on and then go off after a few seconds. The power light should then begin to blink while the modem does a self test. Once that is done, the DSL light should come on and begin to flash red. If it senses a DSL connection, it will change to flash green until it has established a DSL connection. If it does not detect a DSL connection, it will continue to flash red. If the light does not flash at all or if the power light continues to flash after a minute or so, then the modem is most likely bad.

Sounds like the modem is bad. I would get another modem and see if that fixes the issue.

default configuration settings page is 192.168.0.1. Make sure that the IP address of your machine is on the same subnet as the IP of the modem (192.168.0.x, Subnet Mask of 255.255.255.0).

The alpha numeric code are HEX numbers and this is the encrtption key.
The wireless router is configured with the encryption key and you configure your wireless card in your computer with the router's encryption settings, then other computers with a wireless card cannot access your router wirelessly unless they know the encryption setting.
