What I see most often is the safety switch in the nozzle goes bad. Shark vacuums are considered disposable and they don't sell parts. That doesn't mean it can't be fixed though. Take it to your local vacuum repair shop and have them bypass the safety switch and service your machine.

Follow this link. On the right side one half way down should see download here. I started it to make sure it worked. Started fine so I canceled since I have no need.

For future reference most of the time you can find manuals by using model numbers etc followed by .pdf

Try it using you SHKC7800.pdf to see what I mean.

Good luck

First, turn the power off and remove the battery. Then, separate the handheld from the rest of the vacuum by pressing the "Wand Release" button. Next, hold the dust cup over the trash and press the "Empty" button. Tap gently to empty contents and pull any debris off of the metal screen. If desired, wipe clean with a dry soft cloth. Close the lid. You will hear it click into place.

For optimal performance, the dust cup should be emptied each time you vacuum and when the dust cup appears full or debris reaches the "Max Fill" line.

Maybe not the same issue, but my roller brush would only work intermittently. I had to take apart the main housing and clean the two contacts (female side) that connect to the lower brush assembly. Now it works like new.

I found the issue, the square hole in the side is an emergency air release if the suction is not reaching the dust collector. The cylinder filter screen inside the the top of the dust collector had a thick layer of dust which wasn't allowing airflow to the dust collector, hence the air was escaping through the square hole on the side. I cleaned the screen and it worked as if it came right out of the box.

You can call shark customer service at 1-800-798-7398 or call your local vacuum repair shop. It might be cheaper to buy one used.
