It sounds to me that it is possibly in another mode ie. PC, HDMI, etc. and when reset to default goes to tv, but once turned off, goes back to the other mode. I would suggest going to menu and instead of going to default, go to TV and set it for that mode. You may have to do this very quickly upon startup before it goes to another mode.
I never use such of TV but what I no your TV can be in stby mode plizbtry to use stby button on your handset remote controller, if you have no remote try to use buttons on your TV panal press v+ or v- buttons or try other buttons it can switch from stby .thanks
You can buy any RF wireless headphones and connect that directly to your tv (guaranteed way) But if its a smart tv some allow you to link up Bluetooth to it. If you need to you can purchase a bluetooth transmitter hook that up to your tv then pair them up.
