Water could be getting into the engine from the exhaust system which may not be totally drained. Remove the exhaust pipe, remove the spark plugs and turn it over with the starter. Now drain the oil, replace the plugs and try starting without the exhaust - on land - briefly. Now check the oil again.
Water can only be coming from the intake or the exhaust so just keep looking for the source. Mine took quite awhile to clear but now works fine.

Have you tried unhooking the battery and then hooking it back this will reset the computer to default settings for the fuel injection, could fix your problem.

Well, you are welcome, but I did nothing to make that happen! I suggest you sell that old piece of junk and get a new machine!

engines need fuel and air mix, compression and a spark at the right time.

Check your compression. New rings can stick

Check the ignition timing.

Check for a spark in the dark. See if the plug is sparking.

Check if the plug is wet? If it is you are getting fuel and air.

Check the air filter passages for blockages. Check the carb for blockages. Did you stuff anything down a hole to stop dirt getting in?

Hello Lisa,
The most likely fix is for you to check the wires connected to the engine block and verify that they are not broken. There is 1 wire that connects to the engine block then goes to the key, then from the key to the ignition coil block. When the key is in the "on" position the switch is actually open allowing the engine to run. When the switch is in the "off" position it is actually closed and shorting out the ignition block and killing the spark generation, therefore shutting down the engine. So with a broken wire the engine will not shut down at all!!

As a PWC puts you out in open water with no way back apart from swimming, I advise having your PWC serviced at the end of every season. You may have had an airlock in the oil line which cleared due to the slow running. Have a general service anyway which on my outboard costs $125.

Pull the plugs and fill it with wd-40.
And whatever you remove just replace tightly.
Unless its a head gasket or gasket mated part, torque values aren't that critical . Too loose and they'll vibrate out. Too tight and you'll snap or strip it out. A lot of repairs at shops are seldom torqued it all goes by feeling and for the stuff that needs to be torqued like internal parts just google whatever part it is and the type of ski and it'll show in your search.
