96 900 SE turbo, brake light and tail light

1996 SAAB 900 SE Brakelight Failure SID info
- stalls in reverse etc.

The problem lies with the grounding point in the left rear body cavity on the floor, see the diagram.
Rust eventually destorys the ground and the car will not run in reverse nor do the backup lignts or the rear hatch defroster work amongst other things
Re-attach the grounding wire to an existing welded stud on the side body panel and the problem is solved.

My 2004 Saab won't start. When I turn the key it

Methodical fault finding is required...not haphazard guestimation and changing out of components on a suck it and see basis. The first place to start is to ask the car computer what it thinks is going on. You do that by plugging in a diagnostic tool into the OBD2 port (at knee height under the driver side dash, right above the brake pedal). you don't need to have the Tech2 diagnostic to do that, as you aren't going to be doing any programming, it's just a look-see exercise and pretty much most plug in tools will be able to read off the fault codes. Take a note of the codes (they'll be formatted along the lines of P0335 or P0337, for example) Then just google those codes as e.g. DTC P0335 or try P0335 fault code. The info that you get from doing this will point you towards the problem. say, for example, you do get a P0335 code ...that means there's something wrong with your CPS (Crankshaft Position Sensor) and the computer doesn't like that kinda thing, so it spits its dummy out and causes things to happen, like stalling etc all the way through to not starting. The car is 2004, right ? That's getting on in years and sensors etc do start to fail with age. but that doesn't mean it's the sensor itself that's gone pear shaped, it could wiring or connector, so you can carry out simple tests using nothing more than a multimeter. You can look at the sensor resistance which should read 860 Ohms +/- 90 Ohms across pins 1 & 2 (at a temperature of 20 deg Celsius. you can check to see that the sensor is securely fitted. you can check resistance of the sensor wiring, wiggle the wires and see if the resistances fluctuates wildly or whatever . Im not saying that the CPS is your fault, I'm just giving this as an example of how you can methodically home in on the problem area then try to isolate the specific problem by carrying out simple testing. Google is you friend in this.... id suggest you do this yourself or get a friend to help you out with it if you're not confident at using a multimeter. I certainly wouldn't be asking this so-called Saab mechanic to do it as he clearly hasn't got the faintest idea of what he's doing, (not just about Saabs, he hasn't got a clue about the most basic of fault finding techniques....but I bet his wallet is heavier than yours though) Good luck - it's not rocket science or black magic , so just take it slowly and methodically.

Probably is the common issue with Saab (Bosch) ABS module. Had same problem with 2003 9-3 SE. Removed it, had module remanufactured (~$150), reinstallled - fixed problem. Google to find more info.

Fuel regulator location on 2004 Saab 9-3 turbo!

I don't know definitely but to date I haven't seen a fuel pressure regulator anywhere else except in the top of the fuel return line and mounted either on the end of the fuel rail or very close to it. There is also a vacuum line connected to it.

Where is the Bank 1 Sensor 1 located on a 2006 Saab 9-3?

I'm assuming your looking for the oxygen (O2) sensor on that side of the engine. Find the belts and pulley wheels on the end of the engine. Most likely the left side of the car as you look at the engine. Stand on that side of the car with the belts nearest to you. Look across the engine. On the transverse engine fitted to Saab 9-3, Bank One is always the left side of the engine, (nearest the driver), and Bank Two is always the right side of the engine, (nearest the headlights). Standing in front of the car look down the back of the engine, Sensor One will be positioned in the exhaust manifold or first short section of exhaust 'Before' you get to the catalytic converter. It will be a metallic tube shaped sensor with a set of wires coming out of the top end of it. I would recommend buying one of the specialist sockets or spanner's for this as they can be a pain in the backside to get access to. each exhaust has two sensors fitted. Sensor One is always nearest the engine, before the catalytic converter, and Sensor Two is always furthest from the engine, after the catalytic converter.

1996 Saab 9000 SRS light came on after car in storage 8 months. But new battery and computer reset failed to turn light off

Any of the issues you mentioned may be the reason for the light being on. All the light tells you is that there is a fault in the airbag system somewhere. Air bags can be extremely dangerous to work on unless you know exactly what you are doing. They can cause serious injuries or *****. You would be far better to take your car to a repairer than to try and fix this yourself. If you do not care if the airbag is not working, you can pull the fuse and the light will go out, but remember, you then wont have a working airbag.

I have a 2003 Saab 95 that sounds like it wants to start but doesn't start what could that be? Thanks K

Need a bit more info about that. You need to get hold of an OBD2 diagnostic tool (code reader) , plug it in and read off DTC's (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) heres a link to saab.se trouble codes listing, look up the Code numbers and make a note of the codes that your car's ECM throws up. https://saabinfo.se/en/og-9-5/error-codes/obd2-error-codes/ usual suspects are CPS (crankshaft position sensor), which are in the general area of P0335 onwards in the listing, but it could be a number of other things too. More info required please.
