1999 Saab 9-3 convertible. Motor
There is a manual release behind the rear seat on the passenger side. Pulling it releases the tonneau motor plate away from the gears, allowing top to be raised and lowered manually.Once this release is used, the back bottom edge of the top will never seat against the tonneau again until the top is repaired.

In my fairly limited experience, most electric windows are educated into auto mode in a similar way - open the window and keep the switch held down for several seconds or until a click is heard from the mechanism then close the window and again hold down the switch as above.
The window should then operate as an auto open/close type.

Hello. I had the same problem when the Check Gearbox light came on, it would be very sluggish. It turned out to be a small sensor in the transmission that lets the car know what gear it is in. It started to go out slowly and only sometimes would send the information.

Check control module and wireing for loose or bad connection. Intermittent problems are hard to diagnose even at shop and can get expensive fast so also try taking off negative battery cable for 1 hour to reset all cars computers believe it or not this fixes 80 percent of intermittent problems
