Ryobi cs30 starts fine, but idles way too fast
you need to take your air filter off and look into the throat of the carbruetor to see if the ""Butterfly""
is still intact and working not the choke butterfly its the one closest to the engine that moves with the throttle and be sure it is still there and moves as you move the throttle.... open is horizontal and closed is not quite 90 Degrees. check to see it is tight and in the center if the throat when closed.
you may have to remove the carb. to see it function more clearly
make sure the throttle cable is free and not binding any where and to be sure of its adjustment to allow the throttle to return to the idle position.
lubricate the cable from the trigger to carb. wd 40 is ok.
if all above is ok then find the L on the carb. and ccw it 1/8 turn to ritchen it alittle to help slow the idle down some to a respectable level
What fuel line goes where on Ryobi model#990r 4 cycle engine with a Zama carburetor?
Easy way to determine... identify which tube has the filter and connect only that tube to either carb port. Then press the purge bulb several times. If fuel spurts out the other carb port then its correct and simply attach the other tube.
If no fuel spurt, then likely you will see air bubbles in the tank. Switch the line (with filter) to other carb port and press purge several times. If no fuel spurts then some other problem.
Do not use the fuel return without the filter for this procedure as it risks plugging the carburetor with debris from the tank.

Ryobi RY40002 String Trimmer motor runs slowly and rough
Question edited to add FULL make model (what it is).
Category moved from Washing Machines to Ryobi Trimmer.
Replace the spark plug. Strip and clean the carburetor. Replace the fuel with fresh. But hang on though, the RY40002 is electric and runs with a 40 volt battery, so no spark plug and carburetor! :>D Replace the battery, lubricate everything from the motor to the head. Check the motor with nothing attached to it. The carbon brushes may need replacing or its bearings need greasing.

Anyone know the fuel mix ratio for a Ryobi Supreme 720.
I have this machine and it states it requires 4 ounces to 1 gallon gas. This is if you use the i.d.c.oil which is 32:1 it states if other 2 cyc oil is used it requires 6 ounces to 1 gallon fuel. Im trying to add a picture of the machine. I have aryobi 720 sieries. The newer ryobi machines call for the 50:1.

Bought new carburetor off eBay put on won't even try to start pour little sea foam get to run on full choke flip it off dies try adj but no luck and pre settings to get to run
Typical small engine carburetor initial setting is 1.5 turns for both high and low needles. Turn in the idle speed adjust to open the throttle for easier start and run until the low speed air fuel mix is better adjusted. If you treated the fuel with Seafoam do not overdose or guess. Seafoam has a significantly higher specific gravity making it more difficult to draw up for atomization. Better to use untreated fuel until carb adjust is completed. If it runs for awhile with choke then likely the impulse fuel pump is working so the carb gasket orientation is correct but double check the impulse air passage is aligned. It's always a good idea to replace the fuel filter and fuel lines. Be careful to not get the filtered fuel line wrong or any debris in the tank may be drawn into the carb and plug the internal fuel screen. Telltale for a plugged screen is the purge bulb is difficult to depress and rises extremely slow.
