Washer won't start/fill/spin -- anything

Dea, does the washer fill? If it fills and justs sits there it could be the pressure switch. If it fills, agitates and then no spin no drain, then it's the lid switch. If it doesn't do any of the above, it may be a timer issue. Lift the lid and gently lower it, do you hear a click when the actuator on the lid hits the switch? I will attempt to attach a picture on how the consol flips up to see the lid switch harness, pressure switch and timer. Your model will have two screws that must be removed, they maybe in back of the end caps. To remove the lid switch unclip the clips on the right and left side, unplug the harness and tip the cabinet foward. You will see how the lid switch mounts to the cab. Catriver..post back

Check the lid-closed switch. Once filled with water, most machines will not agitate or spin unless the lid is closed.

I have a NEW Roper Washer. It agitates somewhat slowly. My old washer agitated FAST. Is this normal for a Roper?

I would have a look at the cam dogs located in the agitator and the motor coupler or belt if not direct drive. check for loose clutch or slipping tranny. also check for worn agitator spline 7-16 screw agitator removal-r0vmhnqx3ofapyttmvvmotan-4-0.jpg agitator good bad drive block-r0vmhnqx3ofapyttmvvmotan-4-2.jpg agitator spline bad drive blaock-r0vmhnqx3ofapyttmvvmotan-4-5.jpg agitator coupler bell housing removewasher101-r0vmhnqx3ofapyttmvvmotan-4-9.jpg cam dogs 1-r0vmhnqx3ofapyttmvvmotan-4-14.jpg cam dog washer cam dogs replacement-r0vmhnqx3ofapyttmvvmotan-4-20.jpg clutch spring-r0vmhnqx3ofapyttmvvmotan-4-27.jpg coupler removal-r0vmhnqx3ofapyttmvvmotan-4-35.jpg belt washing machine topload belt setup-r0vmhnqx3ofapyttmvvmotan-4-44.jpg

Not spinning or rinsing?

After the machine fills the next step is to agitate. By agitate I mean the wash portion. The plastic fin in the middle of the tub rotates back and forth. So, after the washer fills, if the machine does not agitate, but stops dead, you have a broken lid switch. When I say stops dead, I mean no noise whatsoever. If the machine makes noise you have other problems.

If the machine fills, agitates, and then stops dead, the problem is still the lid switch. The next step would be describing the noise so I can more accurately give a suggestion. Problems include but are not limited to: broken couplers, malfunctioning water pumps, and/or defective motors or transmissions. These are the vast majority of the problems, and the others need no mention.

With a model number I can give a part number of the lid switch, and or other problematic parts. Also, I can give you an average price of the parts. With this information you could order it yourself and save money :) The model numbers are located under the lid of the washer. Not physically on the lid, but right under it. Get eye level with the top of the washer and you will see it ;)
