1. Check the needle thread tension. If the tension is too tight, the needle will not be able to move up or down. To adjust the tension, turn the tension knob on the side of the machine. Turn the knob clockwise to increase the tension, and counterclockwise to decrease the tension.
2. Check the needle. Make sure that the needle is inserted correctly into the needle bar. The needle should be inserted all the way up to the flat spot on the needle bar. If the needle is not inserted correctly, it will not be able to move up or down.

given that the machine is only a month or so old, the best advice i can give you is to do nothing to the machine and call the sewing machine guy out to repair it for you. a brand new machine like this will be covered by the warranty. as long as you have actually switched the machine on properly, any faults are the responsibility of the supplier at this stage.

Is your machine set to skip a stitch? See lever on the right side front.

Check the manual to be sure the needle is installed correctly.

There is a groove along the shaft on the front on the needle that guides the thread through the eye of the needle.

If the needle is threaded from the wrong side, no stitches will form.

Once that is resolved, open the bobbin area and watch to see if the needle thread is connecting with the bobbin thread.

If not, the machine needs to have the timing adjusted.
