A kill switch for 49cc
What's the question? How does it work? It is probably a momentary switch that is normally in the RUN position, you hold the lever in OFF position until motor stops then release it and it springs back to RUN position..

How in the world do
If the add-a-depth is metal it is recommended to wrap the receptacle with some tape. Slide the add-a-depth over the wires that are attached to the receptacle from the rear. That's why there is a split in the add-a-depth, so you can get it over the wires that are attached to the receptacle. Usually you will have to replace the existing 6-32 x 1 1/4" screws with 2" or so. Then pass the screws through the ears on the receptacle, through the holes in the add-a-depth and into the hole on the box. This assumes that the ears will catch the tile. If the ears don't catch the tile, take a 6 or 8 inch piece of #12 wire and coil it around the shaft of a phillips screwdriver. Cut the coil to length and it is now your spacer that goes on before you insert the screw in the hole.
How do you install switch box supports
Requires wall box.
Put wires into box.
Set box in hole.
Slide long part of box support behind sheetrock as shown in image.
Center box support so it fits behind sheetrock above and below the box
Push box tight against sheetrock and fold flanges into box.
Install 2 box supports - one on each side of box.
Fold flanges very tight so box is not loose >> use pliers to tighten
Install switch or plug or wiring device

Radio Shack or Home Depot should have the switch you need. If not find a local Electrical Supply House or a Graybar, they will have the switch for sure. Make sure the breaker is off before changing out!

This is a very strange arrangement, your switch
BTW, my pleasure ... I am a volunteer poster here - not an employee. I'm at home ... watching Dancing with the Stars - I do this for the 'bragging rights'. I'm not perfect but pretty darn good for a High School shuv-out!
You may be able to find a "Off - On (1) - ON (2) - Off" kind of switch ... I'm racking my little brain from when I worked as a (50 year+old) stock boy at the Ace hardware/Auto supply, row 3 - electrical - to see if I remember seeing that switch. I'm pretty sure there is such a thing.
Your arrangement is very strange. Take your switch to the hardware and spend some time exploring. And forget the big box store for now ... look at your little hardware store first. I think they will most likely be able to find you a replacement or the switch I described above.
Thanks for using Fixya.com and I hope I have helped you with your question.

What could cause all electrical outlets and lights on the same circuit to go out without tripping the breaker?
GFCI and overcurrent protection (breaker) work in different ways. Suffice to say the GFCI is ~2000x more sensitive and trips long before the typical household breaker. So it's normal for a GFCI trip and the panel breaker to remain closed. The electrician is correct regarding GFCI devices. One GFCI device can protect multiple downstream outlets but some homeowners want a separate reset per floor or each bathroom to have its own reset, etc.As for the hair dryer... you're trying to eliminate trip sources so just leave it unplugged between uses and you'll get your answer.Typical trip sources are the GFCI itself (defect/damage/age) or an appliance of sorts. Then there's rodent or water infiltration issues. Anything you plug into the GFCI circuit is a potential trip source even something seemingly innocuous as a nightlight or air freshener, USB charger, anything that fits into the plug.
