Are there any signs of life at all when you try to power on the TV ? Clicking sounds.. power light ? Blinking?
- if not try disconnecting AC power from the TV, hold in the power button on the actual TV set ( not the remote ) for 10 seconds - then wait another minute and try to power on again
Do you hear any clicking when you plug in ac power
If the set still does not power on ,it indicates the power board is not powering up at all- you may have a blown fuse on the power board
You can replace it by removing screws on back of the set and the entire rear panel with a “ same type and rating “ from your local hardware store.
The fuse is generally located on the board where the power cord connects
If it still does not fix problem , you may have a failed component on the power supply board

You can buy a simple universal remote.
Or you could upgrade to a Harmony Remote which will simplify your switching and consolidate your remotes

You can also try EBay to see if someone is selling a used remote for your DVD player.

sounds like the led back light has gone on a few lines, this can cause the problems you have said it can also be a weak power board and the voltage for the leds has dropped, you will need to check the power board and check the condition of the capacitors on the power board, any abnormal looking capacitors would need changing/replacing.

PROTRON PDV 288 User Manual 1 888 257 8899 customer service. The troubleshooting guide mentions a "wrong disk" but not a "no disk" symptom. That suggests the problem is more than a dirty lens or incompatible format. There are several videos on the web that tackle the "no disk" problem but all are of other brands than the Protron. You already know that it is not a matter of the motor. That actually suggests to me that the optics are not working. You might try a lens cleaning disk on the off chance that the lens is merely dirty or blocked but it does look like a failure lens apparatus. If so, you can probably guess that a service repair is probably not an economic choice. However, the customer service number is above.
