No. There no seperate fuse for backlighting.

Fault to the main power supply regulator section. Either it will be a separate board, or the part of main board. Not economical to repair.

I hope the surge protector is separate from your TV. It has Varistors in it that are supposed to pass overvoltage surges (it can happen without the power going out) then recover to normal. But sometimes they overheat, then they can become a fire hazard. Or the contacts in the sockets can get charred and flakey. Anyway sounds like it is fried, the only easy solution is replace it. A careful tinkerer with a good scrounge box could fix it, if you know anybody like that.

the start of tv set creates enormous static due to it`s initial ampere.it gives static mostly to a/m band radios.it is normal to the tv set while it starts.

1-verify speakers-2-quit the intermed-frequeny sound coil,destroy the internal capacitor and replace for 100 picofarads, adjust.

Does the tv have remote control? If is make sure did got wet somehow.open remote control and check if is dry.

Check for bulged electrolytic capacitors in the power supply inside the tv.

If a Mitsubishi (Proton is what is listed here) look on the back for the correct and full model number, no 54 inch sets, 55,60,73 etc.Let me know if power light comes on for a few seconds and then goes off............
