You will need a multimeter to check the switch and cabling to the socket, and also check if the new bulb is good. REPLACING THE BULB 1. Use only a 10 watt maximum, candelabra base bulb. As it is an older motor, it probably has brushes but in normal use, they are likely to last many years.

Water in the electrics somewhere causing a dead short. Check the switch contacts. the motor and wiring.
