Urgent help needed Panasonic phone can't call out or receive calls

Disconnect all the phones. Then plug in one simple phone to the main incoming phone jack. This is normally a larger box and near the front door or incoming power distribution board. If that works, you have a faulty phone somewhere in the house. If that phone fails, your telco cut you off or there is a line fault.

How do I silence the ringer on my Panasonic PNLC1040?

The Panasonic PNLC1040 is the charger for the KX-TGFA30 handset of the cordless phone system. One of the phone systems with this handset and charger is the KX-TGF340. You can set the Ringer Volume to off in the Menu of the handset (see page 30 of the manual). Make sure that the phone system is in Standby (no calls in or out or no other handsets are in use). Press Menu. Type in # 1 6 0. Alternatively, navigate to Settings with the Up/Down arrows, press Select (see the label on the LCD screen for the two soft keys above Talk and Off). Navigate to Ring Adjustments and select this. Select Ringer Volume. Use the Up/Down arrows to set the ringer volume to Off and then press the key for save. Press Exit to leave the menu system. There is also a silent mode that turns off the ringer for all handsets and the base (or a select group of handsets). The basic silent mode is set by pressing Menu # 2 3 8. Select On or Off and Save. Set the start and end time of the silent time schedule. Press OK as needed. Use * to set AM/PM. Save and then press Exit to leave the menu system. This is described on pages 35-36 in the manual. The manual is available at ManualsLib here: https://www.manualslib.com/products/Panasonic-Kx-Tgf340-3819542.html . The link to page 30 is https://www.manualslib.com/manual/939182/Panasonic-Kx-Tgf340.html?page=30#manual . For the silent mode, see page 35 on: https://www.manualslib.com/manual/939182/Panasonic-Kx-Tgf340.html?page=35#manual I hope this helps. Cindy Wells

2 of my panasonic kx-tg6541 phones do not work, no ring, no tone, no speaker.

You may have exceeded the REN value of the number of phone on your phone line. Try this Unplug all phones, from main and the cradle, remove all handset batteries. The one that is hard wired to the phone jack. plug in the mains, plug in the base to telephone jack. Put the batteries in the hand set and verify it works. Now go to each extension one by one, plug those in and adding the handset batteries and verfiying each one works. You may get to a stage where the last one doesn't work.

Panasonic PNLC1017, our landline telephones do not work. I've changed batteries, the phone screen reads check tel line. Please help!

The PNLC1017 is the charger for the handset of some Panasonic cordless phones. One of the compatible handsets is the KX-TGA660 which works with the KX-TG4112 system. However, the 'Check tel line' message indicates a problem at the base or the POTS (Plain Old Telephone Service) telephone line. The system is not hearing the dial tone. Check that the power adapter is plugged in to a live outlet and is warm. If it's cold, than the power transformer is not working and the base has no power. If there is power, check if the handset message disappears when the handset is close to the base. This is usually rare but indicates a transmitter/receiver in the handset or base is not communicating properly. You can try to de-register all handsets and then register them again. To check the phone line, I prefer to use an older corded phone. These don't require power to work. First, try a new phone data cord (RJ-11) between the base and the wall jack. (I've seen someone accidentally use a handset cord which doesn't work.) Test if there is a dial tone when this cord is plugged into the test phone. If there is a dial tone, then if the cordless phone base didn't work with the replacement cord, the base is faulty. Replace it or contact Panasonic if the system is under warranty. If you have a DSL fliter, this may be damaged. If it's inside, replace it. If it is in the service box, ask your telephone provider to check it. If there is no dial tone, you need to locate the other phone jacks for that phone line. Find where your phone service comes in as well. Check if there is a dial tone on another jack for that phone line. If there is no dial tone, check the service box for an RJ-11 jack, Test for a dial tone there if you can plug in the RJ-11 cable. If you have a dial tone at another jack, then the problem is local to the first jack's wiring. You can open the jack and check for loose wires. There are two styles of jacks - screws or punch-down. For the screw terminal, strip the insulation and wrap it under the appropriate screw. For the punch-down keystone jack, you need a punch-down tool. The tool is available from most home improvement/building supply stores, in the wiring section. Do not strip the wire. Use the tool to press the wire down into the correct slot on the jack. See https://www.lanshack.com/wire_phone_jack.aspx for the wiring diagram. If you can't test the phone line or there is no dial tone at the service box, then you need to contact your telephone provider. It used to be that the provider would always test and fix outside problems for free. Some telephone companies are trying to stop repairing copper wiring. If you have a dial tone at the service box, then the problem is somewhere in the inside wiring. You may want to get someone to find a broken wire in the wall for you. Your telephone company service technicians will do this for a fee. I hope this helps. I've had the check tel line issue times several times at my home. Twice, the outside line was damaged by mice and repaired by my telephone company. Once, a lightning strike damaged the DSL filter; it was promptly replaced. Other times, the line was damaged by contractors digging too close to the underground utilities. The contractors got the wiring repaired. When our service was switched to a fiber-optic system, we lost one telephone jack when the installer simply didn't plug in the wire. We found the loose wire behind the siding and plugged it into the port in the service box ourselves. Since then, we lost telephone and other service intermittently when the modem card in the service box was failing. That was also replaced by the telephone company technician. Cindy Wells

NO DIAL TONE

Since an Analog Pana phone uses two pairs, swap phones completely with someone else. If the phone you had works somewhere else and the phone you borrowed does not, it's a wiring issue.
The phones light up because the data to make the display and lights travel on the second (black/yellor or orange) pairs of the jack (pins 2&5). The voice is on the first (pins 3&4) pair.
If the phone is bad, it's bad, but I'm guessing your missing a wire on the red or green lead of the phone jack, either from a bad base cord, or a bad jack.

Panasonic cordless phones breaking up during calls

You are too far away from the base station to the phone you are using, or the aerial on the base station isn't extended up, (if it has one). Experiment! Make a call standing next to the base station.

Panasonic land phone KXTG4021 base stop recording incomming mesaagesPerson calls and the phone does not stop ringing and does not allow caller to leave a message

Has the answering system been turned off? Check the base, there is an Answer On button with a LED indicator. If the light is off, press the Answer On button. From the handset when the phone is in Standby, press Menu/OK and navigate to Answering Device using the Up/Down arrows. Press Menu/OK to enter the Answering Device menu. Use the arrows to go to the Answer On and press Menu/OK. Then press Off to exit the menu system. If you are calling into the phone, you can turn on the answering system. Let the phone ring 15 times followed by a long beep, then enter your remote code within 10 seconds. Either hang up or do any remote operations. Note: pressing 0 will turn off the answering system. When you set up the ring count, the maximum rings before the system picks up is 7. In Toll Saver, the phone rings twice if there are new messages and 5 times otherwise before you hear the greeting. Even when the recording space is full, your greeting or a pre-recorded "mailbox full" statement will play. (Note: some of these systems allow for a greeting to play without saving any messages. This is controlled by the "recording time" option.) I hope this helps. See the manual for the KX-TG4021 on the support page: https://shop.panasonic.com/support-only/KX-TG4021N.html. The current link to the manual is https://ftp.panasonic.com/telephone/om/kx-tg4011_mul_om.pdf . Start on page 27 for the Answering Device information. Cindy Wells
