Camera shuts itself off
Since the online reviews of this model date from 2008, it is at least ten years old. Maybe it is just worn out and needs replacing ?

Panasonic DV-Camcorder tape problems.
i used to service quite a few older camcorders, many of them had some sort of rubber band pulley mechanism and the band itself would go limp (corroded) and not providing enough torsion to drive the mechanics of the camcorder
(imagine a slipping fan belt).
you'll have a real hard time getting an exact replacement, and at great expense.... i've had success splicing a normal rubber band, simply razor cut the ends to meet and use the tiniest dot of superglue to make a band of your length... an untreated rubber band would maybe last about a year unless you wipe it with a coating of silicone which extends it's useful life by 10 times (i have a diy treated rubber band in an older cassette deck still running strong after 12 years)...
good luck with the fix.

What is the age of the camera and how well used are the batteries? are you recording from battery or from power cable? The only things you can do are make sure the battery and power is good and make sure the recording media is good. With that in mind if the camera is older than 5 years, they have a battery inside the case that you cannot change. This battery keeps the date and time in memory and when it looses charge, the camera has to be sent in for repairs.

How to fix the problem
Panasonic Viewfinder - Mirror image:Although I don't own a Panasonic, my Samsung and JVC camcorders have this flipped image function, so I guess most are similar in theory. The mirror image is a function used for taking selfies, or where you want the subject to frame themselves while previewing the image on-screen.This only affects the viewfinder screen, not the saved video or still, which remains as normal. To correct this, you need to navigate to the 'settings' menu, exact location depending flavor of camera. There should be an option for "self-portrait" mode or similar.Switch this back to normal mode. Why mirrored? When screen is rotated 180 degrees to face subject in normal mode, they would see an inverted image, so the "selfie" function flips the graphic to compensate.Regards,Clive.
