Caroline
most likely oven got too hot
Is it a Fisher and Paykel electric oven ?
If it stays on the oven after it cools down
remove the power to the oven
may have to flick off circuit breaker or pull the fuse to oven electrical circuit.
Wait 30 seconds and flick on circuit breaker or put fuse back .

Are fan forced ovens meant to have hot air coming out from the top of the door? I have a built in chef fan forced wall oven
Unlikely there would be no air spilling through the door seal because it is an oven and not a watertight compartment. An oven door seal needs to be hard wearing and able to withstand high temperatures and hot grease which limits the materials used, that and the fact few domestic oven doors actually latch these days but are held closed by springs meaning the pressure against the seal is relatively light which means the door, the shut and the seal must be manufactured to a high degree of accuracy and properly adjusted.
If the amount or air leakage is excessive perhaps the door could be adjusted or the seal replaced. Try asking around to find someone with a similar oven so you can compare...

My ovens and grill arn't working but the oven light is on
It sounds like the fuse for the elements has blown. The oven itself is getting power because the light in the oven comes on. I assume the clock or digital readout is still working? Then it is most likely the main fuse for the elements. If you tell me the make and model number of the stove I can look up the service manual and give you specific directions to check the fuse. This will confirm that this is in fact the issue and also get you the fuse so you may purchase the correct replacement. Its easier to buy when you have the old one in your hand when you walk it the parts store or are looking for it online.
