When it is flickering, can you still read it? Mine didn't flicker. Maybe it just needs new batteries. I did find that mine had trouble working once I switched over to AT&T Uverse internet/phone service.

Guessing the buffer resting stops for smalls and possibly capitals have moved ir come loose? They should be adjustable with a small spanner and screwdriver. Or if not adjustable you might have to slightly slightly bend the resting stops! However before doing any off the a both check the plate under machine where the shift lock rests. That might be very loose abd give some similar problems. Best

It would take the same as a GRC (general ribbon corp) T-5 or T-6 and make sure you cut the eyelets off at the end of each spool to prevent locking up ribbon on ribbon reverse operation. The Olympia machine ribbon reverse does not work of eyelet activation. These are German made machines and are built to last a life time.

If this is an electric typewriter it is the carriage return clutch on the right side of the machine the needs to be serviced & adjusted.
