1) pry off the top keypad cover 2) unlatch the clips in back of the screen by squeezing the arms together to release the display from the base 3) lift up the LCD display and pull forward to slide the hinges out to the openings and lift up and out.

You can always hit it with a hammer by cutting the power wait 2 min and turn it back on. That should knock it down. However it won't tell you what happened to begin with.

Outside callers, only get an operators voicemail, when your phone can't be reached. For whatever reason. No contact to a cell, switched off, airplane mode, you name it. Then when you have contact to the provider, you should setup your voicemail, the way your provider would like you to do.
