Mother board ide ports not working

Got to MSI on line. Download the updates for all motherboard components and reinstall them. Not the BIOS, they are ok. Go to Microsoft on line, download the current updates for the operating system and device drivers. Go to Tweaking.com and download FREE windows repair. Now run Tweaking and although it takes time, this program helps make adjustments for you in the SAFE MODE. See if that gets you on tract.

Hello I install MSI G41M-P26

welcome this is my first desktop ever owned. DIY too. and done wrong, if quiet is the goal. your centigrade temps are normal. no goals told, gaming or what:?? if gamed fast, that makes huge heat and must be expelled. or things fail. hard. Heat is the #1 cause of electronics failures. (fans cured) DIY steps 1:I buy a top brand case with huge slow spin fans 120mm and even larger the larger they are I can run them slower for same air flow.!! I can also add my own fan controllers. to any PC, DIY has no limits. 2: the PSU is sold in vast types, and some like mine has USB port and and app that lets me set any thermal fan speed I want. so we pick the PSU now and most PSU 99% run full speed all the time.(cheap) better PSU have 3 speeds, based on thermal sensors inside the PSU. learn to shop wisely PSU, is the answer. Cheap PSU are full speed all the time, ever read up on Corsair? 3: MOBO some mobo like my beloved ASUS, Z270prime allows full fan controls of CPU and case fans. or set to auto mode. some mobo (vast) do not allow that because they do not want to pay out warranty claims after you burn the VRM bank to *****. Like OEMs modo do. all. most have zero controls allowed by you. Asus knows we use huge fans, and we want to set the DIY fan rpm thermal rules based on the fans I WANT to use, amazing no? ASUS is king, never MSI , Gigabtyes is good too.. your 4 pin fan jack is PWM controlled, modulated by the BIOS this is one of BIOS many jobs here. the 3 pin fan sys, is full speed all the time so use only large quiet fans here. page 17 in your manual states "if the mainboard has a System Hardware Monitor chipset on- board, you must use a specially designed fan with speed sensor to take advantage of the CPufan control." that means an option you pick day 1 from MSI. I do not like MSI at all there manual is no good and faq missing There are after market 3rd part fan control APP's that can work for CPU only. google finds them. frankly the choices are endless. DIY desktops, RULE. even water cooled and no fans at all is possible (PSU excepted) here is extreme cooling up to 200mm fans, https://www.newegg.com/p/2AM-000Z-00080?Description=PC%20case%20with%20200mm%20fans&cm_re=PC_case%20with%20200mm%20fans-_-2AM-000Z-00080-_-Product&quicklink=true 200mm https://www.newegg.com/p/2AM-000Z-00089?Description=PC%20case%20with%20200mm%20fans&cm_re=PC_case%20with%20200mm%20fans-_-2AM-000Z-00089-_-Product the bigger the fan the slower it can turn and not make any noise and is decision #1, for sure, also the PC may run great with just 1 large fan connected. gamed, we have a free bench mark program to make the PC run hot to test the fan quality.

SYTEM HANG ON FIRST BIOS SCREEN

Your MB(motherboard) is hanging at the POST(Power on Self Test) level , which means a device connected to the MB or the MB itself has failed or is not seated properly. Your MB is fairly old so I'm assuming it was working at it stopped working at some point. To help you we need some additional info, and you need to troubleshoot in a systematic way one item at a time from the easy to fix to the more complex. You should turn off the computer between each step, don't touch anything inside with the PC power supply turned on. 1. Power off your PC (POYPC), and label (take photos and tag) and then remove all external USB cables from the motherboard, only leave a keyboard and video plugged. Then boot up again and see if anything changes... If it doesn't go to the next step 2. POYOC, ground yourself and open the case by removing screws from the back, your MB has chassis intrusion detection system so the system should beep and show an error prior to POST, if your system doesn't beep then we don't have an external speaker connected to the MB which makes it more complicated to troubleshoot. Now try to push/reseat memory DDR2 SDRAM, PCI/PCIe video card, disk cables and power cables from power supply(PS) to MB. Try booting up again. 3. POYPC. Do you have a PCI/PCIe video card? Is your video cable connected to the VGA (blue plug) or a video card? If you have a video card remove it by unscrewing the video card screw, and plug the monitor to the motherboard. Now reboot, if the system passes POST then you have a bad video card or video card component. 4. POYPC. with the PC now open label and disconnect CD drive, hard disk(s), and floppy data cable from those devices, you can use a sharpie to label each cable their device with numbers. And try booting again, and see what you get at the post level. If at this point it boots, then plug one item back at a time to see which one causes the issue. If those steps didn't solve the problem then it might be a memory (RAM), Power Supply, CPU or MB issue. These items are more complex to troubleshoot. RAM: You have 2 SDRAM sockets, so if you have two DDR2 DIMMS remove DIMM1(closest to the CPU), and boot up again, if you get stuck at the same spot then POYPC again and swap the DIMMS so you only have the original DIMM 2 on DIMM1 slow. Boot up again and see if that gets you passed the POST, if you do you will get a memory error saying that the memory config has changed. Power Supply: Very unlikely that is your PS because your getting to the POST. If your MB detects any electric short at all including the power supply, then your MB won't boot up at all. So I doubt this is the case. If you get to this point and the PC didn't boot then it's probably an issue with the CPU or MB. : If either of these 2 are the problem you should replace both the CPU, and motherboard, if you stay within your RAM and video card specifications then you won't have to replace a lot of components.

915GM-FR Motherboard: I am trying to reinstall the OS with this motherbo...

intel 915 is relic now, 2004 year mobo, a relic and coin cell battery is dead now, not one lasted 14+ years ever. no OS told by you at all, not one clue just nebular OS. no cd told, no label on CD told. The CD in the box new is for drivers only and does not boot from MSI. only MS disks boot here (XP was it new) I can only guess it is a bogus CD-r copy of some OS ? Many PCs this old can not read CD-R or DVD-R only real CDs to boot any CD, the CD must be in top of boot order or all other things removed like HDD and USB . then the CD most be bootable format like real Microsoft disk all are. NO OS told at all but is not linux or chrome OS , right. my guess is the CDs in the box new in the box then confuse you? the msi is only drivers, the manual on CD and utilities, a OS install is on a MS disks with XP SP3 best in class then. to boot a good CD (XP )<< and real, clones may fail. it must be in boot order first as CD then power on and hammer the space bar (easy to find and hit) this magic tapping of space bar, forces the CD to boot ! and does if not , bad Disk bad , CD drive , gee its over 14years old coin cell bad or settings wrong in bios boot order.

System fan on MSI A55m-p33 not spinning

do not hotswap any parts inside any PC, unplug the PSU AC cord from the AC wall jack wait 15 min, then worn on he PC. hot swapping parts, is never wise. (PC rule not true on servers) fans are BIOS controlled do not flash blos on a whim. to make BIOS find a fan any fan or ram, etc. old boot it from no power at all, AC not connected then connect fan or other things, drives, ram etc. then put back AC power the hold power button for 10 seconds and release now bios can do its job, to PnP all devices on the mobo,. learn that the PC simply turned off is not off +5vdc, standby power is there, all the time so learn to make it go dead first, or blow up things you will. the fans are not hotswap rated, at all. nor ram nor drives. yes sata drives can be hot swapped if all 4 things are correct. and are not here. on my real server yes. learn to service PC safely.
