Martin Music - Answered Questions & Fixed Issues
Looking to buy my first acoustic electric guitar, I'm looking at a Martin gpcpa-1 plus with vts or a Taylor 814ce DLX grand auditorium, which is the better guitar
David, you have excellent taste! Both guitars are excellent: Martin has had a reputation as a premier guitar line since 1833- almost 200 years! The Taylor guitar company started in 1974, and is currently (according to Wikipedia, quoting a USA Today article) the #1 guitar maker in America.
I can see why the choice is difficult- they are both Rosewood guitars with Sitka spruce top on a cutaway body, and they are both incredible players.
The Taylor is a little more expensive at $3,999 than the Martin $3,399.
It will come down to which you like better and what kind of music you play- if you record, ask a professional sound engineer which will sound better for your particular style. I happen to like the Taylor neck, but that's mostly because I play a 12- but I cannot see how you would be disappointed with either of these fine instruments.

This indicates that either the threads have stripped, the end has broken, or it may have just become unscrewed, Best bet is to take it to a repair person. Ask your local music shop for a referral.

How do i remove a fishman pick up from a 00018v martin guitar
Is it broken ? That's a $2K guitar. I won't want to mess it up.
Why not take it to a luthier and let him work on it, instead of risking damage ? Let him set it up and fine tune it while it's in the shop. I take all my new guitars to the luthier soon after purchase, then periodically just for check ups.
Even a fantastic guitar will be better after a good luthier sets it up.
Just my opinion.

I would like to know the value of this Martin guitar serial no. 1610197
Your guitar was made at the Nazareth Plant, PA, USA in 2012. This does not give us the model of the guitar, so only an approximate answer is possible, but a top model may be worth around US$2000 depending on condition. Other cheaper 2012 models sell for under US$1000..

Sigma guitar by Martin serial no 98120211
Unfortunately the only Sigma serial numbers which were properly documented were those beginning with 90. Otherwise the serial number of these guitars provides no guide to the date or place of manufacture.

High action martin java mahogany 00x1
To lower the action on an acoustic guitar:
Usually just the saddle needs reducing.
1. Remove strings (or you may be able to just loosen them). Remove saddle, sand down the bottom a little at a time. Restring and check action.
The action can be set as low as poss without any fret buzzing or note choking on all strings and on all frets.
2. Repeat 1
If the action remains too high then there are other techniques.
