(using bench PSU to test them) but you have non of that so. upgrade

You can try starting laptop first and TV after some time or vice versa, tv first.

Hi, Sounds like an issue of the video card not the monitor. Take to computer shop to verify. One thing you can try is drop the dpi down (refresh rate)a bit. Then try again. If that makes sense to you. Hope that helps.

Possibly the monitor itself has a tripped circuit breaker. Look for a reset button. Might be in a pinhole.

That's probably a message from the monitor because it's not getting a signal from the computer. Look at the VGA cord where it plugs into the computer, or the monitor to see if you bent pins when reinserting the plug.

Go into settings menu and turn of the power saving option.

Most likely gone... it would require an electrician to go testing the different components of the monitor inside. And maybe even someone like that cant fix such things.

What lights are you seeing? Any indicators? What about the power button itself? Any response?

Hello, It´s not safe to anchor it to the plastic back, monitors usually have a metal frame inside that support the weight of the monitor.

Those lights are a code. I don't know which TV you have, exactly. But the manual will tell you what the light code indicates and what to do about it.

Ya gotta be kidding! You still have a CRT monitor? CRTs have a focus adjustment around the neck of the big tube. The shop screwed it up. Spend $50 and get a nice used LED or LCD flat screen.

It could be a simple cap problem on the control card. But, a 17"? That may not be worth the effort. Unless you have time and curiosity to look for a damaged component on the inner board. Since it does nothing screenwise it is probably something obvious if you open it up. Good luck with your project.
