Lexmark MS811N Printing only blank pages

Hi, Please remove the toner/ink cartridge out and shake it 4 or 5 times before placing it back into your printer and testing a few prints. Lexmark also recommends checking for packing material on the imaging unit. Thank you.

Paper jam

The printer hardware should even this out when printing. You should also ensure the paper meets the automatic feeder requirements of the printer.
If printing is skewed, feeding multiple pages or jamming, please follow these instructions (use a regular letter size paper to test after doing the steps given below):
Please check to ensure there is nothing obstructing the paper feed mechanism down inside the printer where it is not easily seen. If there is nothing obvious, unplug the printer and remove the paper. Open the front cover and look above the steel rod. You should see a conveyor belt with rubber teeth on it, like a fan belt. Take the bottom part of that belt and move it gently to the left. The cartridges should come out with it. Make sure the cartridges can move fully from one side of the printer to the other. Check also the output rollers on the bottom of the printer for any blockage. If it is jamming under the carrier assembly, you may be able to fix it using the manual feed slot. Turn the printer off. Next take a #10 envelope and feed it through the left side of the paper feed slot (The manual paper feed slot is preferred, but the automatic feed will do if there is no manual paper feed for this printer) until it comes completely through the printer to the back of the exit rollers. Move it up and down and slowly move it over to the right side. If something is stuck under the black guide plate this may work it loose or you may have to feed the envelope through the front rollers and push your way backward (please be careful here).
Next, take a damp warm cloth and clean the rubber rollers in the automatic sheet feeder. Dust may be coating the rollers there and as they become less tacky, they cannot feed paper correctly.
Finally, turn the printer upside down and carefully shake it for 10 to 20 seconds to see if something falls out of the paper feed path. Then plug the printer back up, take your paper out and replace it with a fresh, small stack (about 5 pages) of paper. Quickly bend the stack in an 'S' shape a few times to separate pages. Make sure it is lined up on the right side of the paper feed and the paper guide on the left is snug on the left side of the paper. Then try to form feed again. If that works, then try to print again.

Good Luck!!!!!

My printer is saying idle. How do I fix it.

A quick fix for most communication errors can be achieved by resetting the printer and/or rebooting the PC. Simply disconnect the printer from your computer. Reboot your pc. Unplug and re-plug the printer into the power source to reset it. When the printer turns on, reconnect it to your computer. Then try to print again once the computer fully recognizes the USB connection.

I have a hardware error 0502

This error could be caused by dirt on the encoder strip or on the rod on which the cartridge carrier rides, the encoder strip is out of position or a faulty cartridge (one or both). First try cleaning the travel rod. Turn off the printer and unplug it. (I recommend unplugging the power cord from the printer and then from the wall outlet.) Open the front cover to access the ink cartridge area. With a tissue or paper towel, clean off the exposed section of the metal rod that the cartridge carrier runs on. Pinch the cartridge belt and slide the cartridge carrier over to the other side and clean the rest of the rod. Then slide the cartridge carrier back to the home position. (The tissue will end up covered with ink so be careful about getting ink everywhere.) Also be careful while doing this cleaning step to avoid bumping the clear encoder strip. If this strip is dislodged from the cartridge carrier, you will need to slide it back into position. This entails carefully pushing it down and then back up along the back to the cartridge carrier so that it fits in the slot in the carrier. Sometimes you need to also move it forward and back before moving it into the slot. Close the front cover and plug the printer back in. Then turn it on and see if the error persists.Next try cleaning the encoder strip (it is plastic). Use the same steps as above (turn off, unplug, and open front cover). Then move the cartridge carrier to the center (pinch the belt again) and remove the cartridges. Then move the cartridge carrier to the left. With a soft cloth clean the exposed section of the encoder strip, then move the cartridge carrier to the right and clean the rest of the strip. Get the encoder strip back into position if it is out of place. (See above for the details.) Replace the ink cartridges (after moving the carrier to the center again). Slide the cartridge carrier back to the right, close the printer cover and plug it in. Turn on the printer and see if the error persists.Work quickly - the cartridges should not be out of the printer for more than 30 minutes at a time. For pictures of the encoder strip, see http://support.lexmark.com/index?page=content&id=SO3370&actp=search&viewlocale=es_ES&userlocale=ES_ES&segment=SUPPORTproductCode%3D&productCode=LEXMARK_X6150&searchid=1284653009138 . Next try trouble-shooting the cartridges. Remove one cartridge at a time with the unit unplugged. Then plug it back in and turn it on. Press Copy, then press Options 10 times (or until you see Maintenance on the LCD screen). Press the Left arrow button once (it should read Self-test Page). Then press Select. The test page should print. Replace the first cartridge and repeat these steps with the second cartridge removed. Also do the self-test with both cartridges in place. Replace the cartridge(s) if the problem is with one of them. Contact Lexmark for repair if the printer is still under warranty and none of the above steps help. Otherwise, decide if a repair is worthwhile or if replacing the printer is a better option. (It's a minimum of $50 just for the service center to diagnose the problem plus the cost of shipping the printer.)I hope this helps. Cindy Wells

Paper does not feed from Tray 1.

Check your printer settings.

Sometimes if your printer or the program you are printing from has the paper source set to "Letter" it waits for you to press the continue key on the printer which allows you to insert headed note paper before printing.

If it is set to letter, change it to A4 and this should solve your problem

You may need to change this in both the printer settings and/or each program from which you are printing

I have a Lexmark X2470 and the light keeps blinking green what's wrong with it

What is the speed and pattern of the blinking light? If you see a slow blink, then the all-in-one is out of paper (or can't pick up the paper). Add paper and then press the power button. A fast blink indicates a paper jam in the printer. Try automatically ejecting the problem sheet by pressing and holding the power button while you pull the sheet from the paper exit tray. Otherwise, turn off the printer and then manually pull out the paper. Make sure that no ripped pieces remain in the paper route before turning the printer back on. If the pattern is blink, pause, blink, the printer cartridge carrier either is blocked or a cartridge is missing or improperly installed. Raise the scanner unit and remove anything blocking the cartridge carrier motion. Put in a new cartridge of the correct type (if needed) and make sure that it is properly seated. If needed, try resetting the printer by turning it off. Then disconnect the power cord from the wall outlet and then the printer. Reconnect the power cord after waiting a few minutes. See https://www.manualslib.com/manual/291580/Lexmark-X2470.html?page=60#manual and the following page for the troubleshooting guide. If the printer continues to blink, your printer may need service. If it's under warranty (usually one year), contact Lexmark. If it isn't, decide if the cost of repairs is worthwhile. I hope this helps. Cindy Wells

Lexmark x5470 error code 1203

The 1203 error indicates either a communication problem between your cartridges and your printer or a short in one of the cartridges. Please follow the steps below to identify and fix the issue:

1. Make sure the printer is on.

2. Open the printer cover. The print cartridge carrier moves and stops at the loading position, unless the All-in-One is busy.

Note: If the carrier does not automatically move to the center, turn off the printer/unplug the printer from the power source and then slide the carrier to the center.

3. Remove both cartridges from the carrier.

4. Close the printer cover.

5. Re-brick your printer. Pull out the power supply, black box where the power cord is plugged in at the back of the printer, and put it back after 30 seconds.

6. When the printer turns on, reinsert one cartridge first.

7. Close the printer cover and check for any errors.

8. If no error appears, reinsert the other cartridge. Close the printer cover.

9. Replace whichever cartridge is causing the error to appear with a new cartridge. Then try to print a document again to verify that the problem is fixed.
