My Lenovo, G550 turns on
Hi eseitz26,
For your G550 issue that no display will show on your screen after turning it on although all the lights are showing there are different reasons why you're getting this issue. The two most common issues are:
(1) The system just needed to be refreshed and reset the BIOS. Don't worry because resetting BIOS is just easy and you can do this on your own. Simply power drain your machine.
Here's how: Shut down your PC >> Remove the battery and unplug AC adapter >> Without any power source press and hold the power button for 15-20 seconds (nothing will happen yet) >> Put back the battery and the charger >> Then, turn on your PC.
(2) The LCD cable from your screen going to the motherboard is loosed,
that needed to be repaired or defective, and it needs replacement. For this one, you may contact Lenovo to give you options about the repair.
Well, in some rare cases screen might be also defective and needs replacement. You may also take a look on that possibility.
Hope this helps.
Thank you for using Fixya.

if the PC is silent the monitor goes to sleep.
if the PC goes to sleep
wiggle the mouse or hit space bar until PC wakes up. if sleep is bad in PC turn sleep off.

Battery problem-plugged in, not charging. Lenovo
Had the same problem with a manufactured refurb, would go to 79 %, if you go to power options, change plan settings, change advance power settings, then to the Lenovo energy management tab, press the big enable Lenovo energy management, click on the blue gear to the left of the question mark, if "Optimize for Battery lifespan" is selected it will only charge the battery to 80%, change this to "Optimize for Battery Runtime" and it will charge to 100%
