These use two of the L44 common button battery. The + sides of the battery (flat) goes towards the body ... the bump goes towards the battery holder. Check the contacts on the body and where the threads (-) contact the body. Not voltage, no work. Assuming you have 4 different batteries, can you check the batteries ? One bad one of two will not allow voltage. I have bought new button batteries that were dead right from the package. Strange two cameras are dead. They have electronic shutters. The LED should light up in the viewfinder when the shutter is slightly pressed.

google its user manual changing lens from stock might be the issue or 8 years auto focus sensor may be stuffed

This depends on your budget and nature of photography. If you have the budget for a DSLR and you feel that you really need to use different lenses, go for a DSLR.

Try this before spending money on anything: Open the camera front and back: ie, take off the lens, open the back door. With clean hands, put fingers in from both front and back. VERY GENTLY slide the shutter curtain to the side, as it would do if the shutter release was working. In my case, when I let go of the curtain, the whole situation resolved itself, the mirror went back up into position and the winder and release both started working again. Most cameras, when set to automatic, will pop up the flash, when the lights are to low. As soon as you switch to a manual setting, with Aperture or shutter priority, the flash should stay where you put it. Down and if should not give any light. So check your settings and don't use Automatic or P(program)

This is usually caused by a failure of the stop pin in the shutter/aperture charging unit in the bottom of the camera. The part is no longer available

Lens fully closed so viewfinder is dark and secondly your auto focus will not work either in this condition ( not enough light reaching the sensor at the bottom of the mirror box ). Problem is the aperture control mechanism called 'the base plate set' situated next to the mirror box in the body , which is faulty. This can be repaired but requires removing of the mirror box so that you can access the small drive which has a faulty gear and which drives the aperture mechanism. I charge +- $150 to repair this common problem.

Usually this is caused by a failure of the aperture unit in the bottom. There are a bunch of gears and one has a plastic post molded onto it. The post stops the gears from turning when they have returned to the start position after firing a shot. The plastic is too soft and the post wears away, causing the gears to go too far, and jam the unit. Obviously, due to the age and the fact that Minolta is out of the camera business the part is not longer available

Probably a problem with the af/m switch so that even though switching to manual moves the connector out of the way (pulls it into the mount) the af motor continues to run. Remover the bottom and then the front cover and check the switch.

The Konica Minolta Maxxum 5xi QD is a 35mm film camera and does not use an SD card. If you want your photos taken on an SD card, you will need to get a digital SLR.Hope that helps,Bax
