Your lens elements are not moving smoothly. Maybe gummed up.

Hi wrt3 !! Can you pls tell us the name and modell for your dell pc. Do you use usbport version 2 ? Have you tried to use the camera on a different computer with another windows ? Best regards Joakim

The manual only can give two reasons why the camera would not take pictures. One, there is no memory card placed. Two, the memory card is full. You are sure you have placed a working empty memory card. If you did save all the pictures on the memory card to a computer, try formatting the card in the camera. When you are pressing the shutter release button half, does the camera say it is focused correct? light bottom corner of the display. Your camera has a setting to take pictures with a remote control. Did you put the camera in that setting? Read page 76 of the manual. success

Tamron makes lenses with a variety of lens mounts. If the lens has a Minolta mount then yes, you may use it with your camera.

What type and size memory card are you trying to use? The Z1 works with MMC and SD cards, 2GB or smaller. It will not work with higher capacity SDHC cards, even though they fit into the slot.
