The motor would run but stopped grinding. Took it
This happened to me this morning. Air blasted it, then cleaned it out w/alcohol which took care of the problem. Coffee apparently had become so compacted around the hammer heads, not allowing any ground coffee through.
Kitchenaid coffee pot won't brew coffee reads err2
An ERR 2 may be cleared by a simple reset of the coffee maker. This
means unplugging the unit and plugging it back in. When powered back
on, select a brew function to see if the error reappears.
If it does reappear, ERR 2 indicates an internal error with the computer of the
warming plate. This may be covered under Kitchenaid's 1 Year Hassle
Free Warranty. I would advise you to call Kitchenaid Customer Service
to see what options are available to you. Repair is not recommended, as
it is not cost effective for the company or the consumer.
Their toll-free telephone number is 1-800-541-6390.
Can not turn the grind
Same thing happened to me. It turned out the cause was a build up of hardened coffee grounds. We took it apart (a bit tricky!) and cleaned it. Now works like new.
I can no longer turn
Same thing here. We ended up taking it apart. Took a bit of time and a few tools, but basically the oils from coffee 'gum up' the parts. I couldn't get it to turn to FINE, as dial was stuck. I had two handy guys that did it for me. A pair of pliers and a screwdriver were involved. There was some really hardened chunks of coffee that had caused it. Works like new now!
Steamer/frother leaks and cannot be completely
Not a solution but a note. Kitchenaid got sold off to whirlpool and they almost immediately discontinued this model. I had two of them with the same issue, that of leakinghigh pressure lines. I can't even find an appliance repair facility that will touch this model because they can't get repair parts. Spent a lot of money on two espresso machines that don't work.
Kicthen Aid Coffee Grinder BCG100
The two small little guides you refer to are a pair of switches that get depressed when the top is pressed down. In the top is supposed to be a plastic pin in the top of each one of the grooves. When both pins push both of the switches down (look like black dots) the grinder wil operate. The proper solution would be to replace the top.
Error 2-Unit will not heat or brew. Stopped in
Error message 2 is a result of the water heating element burning out. The element is replaceable, if you can find a vendor who sells the element assembly. Price of a new element may be more that a new pot though, if you're lucky enough to find a parts vendor that sells one.
