I have a Bosch dishwasher with the same "mystery" part. According to my manual,this part is an Extra Tall Item Sprinkler (select models). Apparently, if you are loading in extra tall items, you take out the top rack and insert this part into the top rack spray outlet (located a the back of the dishwasher). Turn it clockwise to lock it into position. Put your extra tall items in the bottom rack. Hope this helps!

You can try resetting it by removing the power from it for a couple of minutes and then restore the power. count the flashes that the light is showing and see if there is a pattern to it. Like 2 flashes and a pause and the 5 flashes and then repeat. Let us know

Sounds like the control lock is activated and you'll need to deactivate it. Press and hold the drain and spin button for 5 seconds to accomplish this.

Check your drain hose to make sure no water from the sink is draining back into the dishwasher.
If it is,re-hook the drain hose up high under the sink.
