JVC MX-GT88 sound system showing protected them shut off why

Chances are that something is blown in the power output stages and units shuts down to protect against further damage. Repair or replace, which ever is cheaper!

No power on my JVC Kaboom

Could be a blown fuse... it's located behind the right end woofer when looking at the unit face. Remove the round plastic molding and then remove the actual woofer. You will then have sight of the fuse... it's really hard to reach, will need something like long tweezers to reach in, grab and remove. Replacing is also challenging but you will figure it out (1x 250v 1.25A glass tube fuse)

JVC RX 709V Will not turn on stanby keeps

There is most likely a fault in the power supply that is causing the amplifier to go into protection. This receiver more than likely has a switching power supply you can tell by the weight of the amp. Heavy = linear power supply and light = switching power supply. Common problems with switch mode power supplies are the FETs used for switching and the PWM (pulse width modulation generator) If you know someone into electronic repair it should be too difficult. The FETs won't be cheap. Though. All in all the unit should be no more than 100 dollars to repair between labor and parts.

SP-PWM505 subwoofer does not stay on

Well i had exactly the same problem, my sub turned off right away when i turned the whole thing on. Well i opened the subwoofer and was trying to find out something unusual, i took out, i believe, internal amp, well, whatever that thing is, under the lid. Which one is screwed with 6 copper screws, so you unscrew those screws, lift that lid and that whole board comes out. On that board i find something like burn around one of the parts.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/28004328@N04/3333561417/in/photostream/

you can see it in the pick, the part q2902, then i contacted JVC. At the beginning they said i need to take the whole thing to service center and so on. But later i made them to tell me what kind of part that is, so here :http://www.jvcservice.com/store/ProductDetail.asp?Part=KTC3199/GL/-T
bought soldering gun in home depot for $15, returned after i was done. And that is it, just have to replace it, but total cost only $12 ($5 part +$7 shipping)

JVC 8 pin pinout - speaker cable

Looking at the connector, there are 3 rows of pins.
Starting with the first row closest to the alignment mark:
[Power On],[Center Speaker],[Sub Woofer]
[Surround Right],[Speaker Ground],[Surround Left]
[Right],[Left]

If you are trying to connect two JVC units, you will need an 8-pin cable that has the SAME pins connected on each side. You will need to test this using a multimeter set to ohms or 'connectivity'.
There are other 8-pin cables out there like the one for apple networking, but they use a crossover pinout where pin 1 on one end = pin 3 on the other end. This is bad. JVC needs pin 1 to = pin 1.

This is a standard connector/pinout setup that JVC uses, so connecting a TH-C3 to a TH-C50 works fine. There is a bunch of intermixing that you can get away with. The only thing to keep an eye on is the power in watts that one unit sends and the other recieves. Worst case is that the speakers are quiter than expected or that you can turn the volume up so high that it can damage the speakers. In all cases, you should get desired volume somewhere on the dial.

If you are trying to wire the speaker set custom, then you will need to take note that an '8-pin' connector is actually a 9-wire connector. Along with the above pinout, you will need to add Case Ground, which is the metal circle that surrounds the pins. To make the speakers turn on, you will need to apply 12v to the Power On pin and ground the 12v source to the Case Ground outer ring.
The system takes 3 to 4 seconds to fully turn on after this connection is made. Speakers should be wired using the center pin for speaker ground and each other pin respectful to each speaker.

My JVC JVC UX-D150 keeps reverting to a station called Absolute which we hate - any advice please?

Change your Home Station in the DAB settings. If you do that and it reverts back, there _may_ be a motherboard battery that needs replacing. It is losing its memory when it is turned off. https://www.manualslib.com/manual/1366367/Jvc-Ux-D150.html ..
