Are you hoping for two different solutions so you can pick and choose ? Either way, it needs professional attention - take or send it to a service centre.

Have you tried contacting JVC for this issue? Have you also googled the problem for answer?

See if you can reset camera to factory defaults. If not then you have a serious issue with the camera electronics. Think that puppy is ready for retirement since repair, if available, will cost a small fortune and not be worth it.

The unit may be locked due to the head needing cleaning. Try removing the battery for 30 minutes or so and then resetting it.

Sounds as if something is preventing the gears engaging. Service required.

If your camera has a memory card or hard drive stop using it immediately so as to not record anything on it over any other recording. There is software out there that can recover erased material if nothing has been recorded over it such as other pictures , videos. You install the hard drive or memory card into a compute with the software and if you are fortunate you may be able to get it back.
