The Janome HC1200 is the HobbyCraft version of the Janome 219S. This machine uses a daring plate to cover the feed dogs. This was included in the original accessory set for the machine. this hap[pens to all of us eventually. place the bottom where it needs to be and the long screws and short screws become apparent as you attempt to put them in.. short screws are too short for certain holes etc..

This would be a problem with the foot control. It needs cleaning or replacing. This link says it has a maximum speed setting

Hi, Please turn off your machine and raise the presser-foot and needle bar. Then, you can turn on your machine again. You may need to rethread all the threads because most sergers need to be threaded in the right sequence. I looks like this one has to be threaded starting at the right and progressing left.
