needs to be replaced , if it does not respong to ur taps have u tried aligning the screen does it work at all or no area is responsive on screen then u can try hard resetting it first but after that it will be guaranteed that ur touch panel is faulty which seems like to me

but one thing u shud now all data will be lost in factory reset process and if u touch panel is faulty u will stuck up in initial aligning process so pls backup first b4 going ahead sync contacts and sms calender an stuff then try this

hard rest factory default settings = when ur set is switched off press both buttons call and end key and then press power button on upside of pda for like 5 sec screen will appear asking to format all data take out ur card if u dont want to format that now confirm by pressing the centre action button in 4 side joystick and go

if u are stuck at align process then it is now pretty sure that ur TOUCH PANEL / also called DIGITIZER is faulty u can get it replaced around 60 $ or so
