Follow HP's directions at http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?objectID=c01687323&lang=en&cc=us&conte... and put the printer in BootCode mode then ran the firmware updater. The directions indicated that the printer would restart on it's own, but if does not, so let the printer sit for about a minute after the Firmware Updater says it was done, then power down the printer and pull out it's power cord. Let it sit for about 15 seconds, then plug it back in and start it up. When the printer starts up, the printer's display may go through a bunch of messages (Erasing...) for a few seconds. When it finishes with all of the messages, you should be able to print to the printer again. I hope this helps. Regards, Mike

Check your toner cartridge first. There is more than one cause for this problem. It could also be your transfer roller that needs to be replaced. Or it could be the scanner that has gone out. Are you getting an error code?

pull power out of printer release fuser unit from back of printer and check it is not fused together The fuser unit may may need to be replaced

I own a HP 2600n and I had the same problem the way I fixed it was hold both arrow buttons in the turned off the power for 10 seconds while holding the buttons in then turned it back on then released after 3seconds the reset my defaults this cured my problems

The printer itself is printing, but when I stalled Laserjet 4000 and try to print it shows ERROR even printing test page. I do not know why my HP laptop Vista cann't recognize the printer!

all you have to do is initialize hard disk even if you do not have one. Just turn off the printer. Turn the printer back on and when the memory starts to count hold down the menu key until all three lights come on. When all three lights are on solid release the menu button and press the arrow back button and initialize disk should appear in the menu. Just hit the check mark button again and it should take care of the problem

How is the printer telling you this information? (does the PC give an error, or the printer flash lights)

Does the paper make it out of the machine?

Is this "Rollers in the Back" the Fuser Unit?

if you open the back top cover, where it gets real hot, where the paper exit's, you should see two rollers, one orange, one either brown or black.. if that orange roller is damaged, has crease's, or covered with black toner, if the paper jams here alott, you probably need a new fuser unit. there is a pm kit available which includes the fuser and rollers, transfer, etc, which this site might have

Hello,This is a common problem with Windows machines. If a print job gets corrupted in the print que it will stop and block all other jobs from printing. It will also block the job from being deleted normally. You have to stop the print que service and then delete the print jobs from the que. ADF is the top part where you place faxes and multiple sheets to copy. Check to make sure that it is sitting completely tight and closed. This is the part that sits above the glass. If it seems closed tight, try to open this top raised part of the printer and then close it again. Uplug the printer and plug it in again.

If your still looking for a solution, or to those of you who have a similar problem, the following fixed my problem after trying to resolve the issue over the last year!!!!

I also received the "not set up on pc" message and tried re-installing the software numerous times.

Finally resorted to re-installing windows XP (because of this and other software glitches) and re-installed the Laserjet 3050 software again...but could not get the printer to install.

The problem was occuring while the software was asking to "plug in the usb cable", but would not complete the installation. It was not recognizing the device....the solution was to reset the laserjet 3050!!!!

to reset, push the "menu" button, < (left arrow), go to "service", "enter" button, > (right arrow), "Restore Defaults", "enter" button.
This should reset the factory defaults.

After this, I re-installed software, working!!!!!
