Hard Reset
Remove the cartridges from the printer then unplug the power cable from
the back of the printer and from the walljack wait for 30 seconds then
replug the power cable to the wall out let and then to the printer.
Power Drain
Remove the cartridges from the printer then unplug the power cable from
the back of the printer and from the walljack wait for 30 seconds now
press and hold the power button on the printer and replug the power
cable to the wall out let and then to the printer after the power cable
is connected you can let go off the power button..
Problem printing with HP Business inkjet 1200 1-800-532-4187 IS SPAM
I have a HP Business Inkjet 1220 Printer, and the block ink cartridge light is flashing. I replaced the cartridge with a brand new one, closed the door, and black ink light is still flashing. I put in another neew black ink cartridge, closed the door, and same issue- black cartidge ink light flashing. I cannot print- what to do?

To reset the network configuration follow the instructions below:

Press the Configuration Page button once.

Press the Resume button three times.

Wait for about 20 seconds and then press the Power button to turn off the printer.

Disconnect the power cord from the printer.

Wait for about 20 seconds and then reconnect the power cord.
-
Press the Power button to turn on the printer.
Not sure if this will resolve other issues, but it's the only reset I know of.
Expired HP printer cartridges BEWARE SPAM ALERT 1-800-532-4187
I have the identical problem with an HP Business Inkjet 1100.
Once cartridges were past date, the printer would no longer print from Windows XP. It would however work perfectly from Linux.
I
did not find an ini file as mentioned in other posts, and I really did
not want to open the printer as it worked fine in Linux.
The following fixed the problem:
1) Click on Start button, run
2) Type in regedit, enter
3) Navigate to HKLM/software/Hewlett-Packard/HP Printers/HPWH Toolbox/Common
4) In the right panel, right click on Ink, pick modify
5) Change 0100 to 0000
6) Save and reboot

You can try using it and hope that it will work. If it doesn't then you will have to buy a new one. Don't worry nothing bad will happen to your printer.
On my HP Business Inkjet
You may be using non original ink catridges, the printer chip will not recognise so flashes as if needs replacing.if refills are original printer chip may need to be reset.
Anyone know how to read the print out that comes
HP print heads are usually a part of the cartridge so when you get a new cartridge you have a new print head. However, they do have a models with separate print heads.
If after installing a good ink supply and cleaning/aligning the works, performance is still unsatisfactory you may have no recourse other than to change the print head which can be expensive to the point where getting a new printer is more cost effective.
