this old DT is not supported. hell most cars are not that old. (only bits and odd pieces) from maker. of car. and the law is 10 years. so,... (what's the beef?) why not buy your discs used, and use them. whats stopping your, my guess is you want free disks. Ive been running Linux since day one, I use it for all financial transactions (banks, 401k etc) for security. XP is dead too. and is a virus magnet,... we all know that. its not new... it's not secure at ALL. HP does not sell parts after 10 years. what I don't understand is your not having your disks for 10 + years nor the fact, not only that buy HP is not going to upgrade 1000s of old systems, over 10 years, old to run W7 or W8 OR w10 if it did not come with that new. the only support what they tell you on your exact model. btw many old system, the chips inside do not have drivers for w7, w18 or w10. from the makers of anyone. nada so that system is now legacy old systems frozen in time. live with it or upgrade build a new ASUS based DT, and stop crying.

my gawd, how old is that, over 10y i bet. yours listed on HP.com not supported. a dead HDD means (its bad) or you lost 12vdc to it that means your PSU is dead. 5vdc is ok but that is not enough. as more are this old. common. learn to use a voltmeter see that HDD connector on pin is 5vdc other is 12vdc, if 12v is 0v, the motor can not SPIN EVER. easy no?

Hello If your OS, its now starting good, it depends, on a great amount of issues, from viruses, bad boot sector, bad drivers, bad boot files, or corrupted ones a lot indeed. but for help you quick, do these steps 1) go into safe mode, windows 7, xp, 2) verifify in control panel and device manager, if is missing any device, and then restart, 2) do in safe mode, an restore checkpoint ** 3) if any of those not work, reinstall windows. hope these help
