Move the reset jumper from current position (usually Pins 1+2) to reset position (usually pins 2+3) Power on the computer and hit keyboard key (F10) to get to the Bios and check if Bios was reset.. Consider that password protection will not normally be removed on CMOS reset, you will need to ask HP or look around the internet for a way to reset a password protected Bios. Download to say your desktop etc, You then must make a Bootable Floppy disk, with the BIOS file on it. Then using the BIOS manager you run it, you are asked for BIOS name, after which, the software will write the BIOS file to the chip, when it is finished reboot and all should be good. hi Twjh. it sounds like the drivers are missing where it is showing yellow. try and up date them drivers from the boot up disc.

this is telling you that the Dimms ( Memory Sticks ) Have to be the same or equivalent.
i.e:- 2 x 256mb. 2 x 512mb. Your system does,nt seem to like 1 stick of 128mb And 1 stick of 256mb. et,c.
each channel has to have the same amount of memory. put the same memory in slots 1 and 2 on the motherboard, or if there are 4 slots. put the same memory modules in slots 1-2 3 and 4.
If this does,nt work, use the same memory in slots 1 and 3. or 2 and 4 respectively.

The computer recognises that a fan is not plugged in via the 3 pin power connectir on the mother board.

dx2300 Microtower (power shuts off) only 3 things cause self turn off.

1. PSU bad or is overloaded, we bench test it or in place test it, ask . its easy jumper to do that.
2. THE mobo sees gross errors; Like overheated CPU or fans dead. and commands the PSU to off, state. to save it from damage.
3. and The OS (unstated by you) is corrupted and does a commanded SOFT POWER OFF.

no sounds from what? you never said sure the speakers but do windows sounds work>? and wav files dead, and did you try ear phones (or buds) at those tiny 3.5mm phone jacks, so all dead it is.... so... first off XP is not supported, ,' for 3 years. running without SP3, is not good at all, ever. !!! that can mean dumpster diving for good drivers, (HP shut down XP support as did, MS) but luck you its 2008 and dont get killed till next year.... you win. wrong memory i told you yesterday this now post is gone! take out the memory you put in, the PC now works right, i also told you the OS will get corrupted files with bad memory telling you want;? take out the bad memory (no brand or p/n stated so impossible to help fully) then reload windows, (refresh , from media files or repair installs) then post what memory you used you can not just throw in ANY memory. most will fail. this old system is very limited on choices too ask for what works, can do. but you never once stated the DMM sticks used brand and full partnumbers. nor if OS s 32bit or 64bit. nor stated what OS, windows WHAT? (XP TO 10)

Since this started right after you added the new RAM, have you considered that it might be bad? Here is how you test it. Test your RAM with Windows Memory Diagnostic tool

Sounds like a bad power supply or Motherboard. You will need to replace power supply first to determine if the board has died or not. You should be able to install any ATX power supply for your board no need for HP specific. If the Board has died the solutions available are a little more tricky. one idea is take it to a local computer store and have them give you an estimate to fix. Without providing your operating system it is safe to say that Windows 7, 8 & 10 should install the proper drivers for you if not available from HP. You could alternatively go to the Intel web site and download their hardware scanner to see if they will locate any missing driver updates.

click on windows logo, in the search bar type " features" look at the list select features and programs. in the features menu. you must check every box that you want to be available. in this case " GAMES" feature must be check. click save. then it will reboot.it might update the system too.

Go to the start menu then control panel then click on display change the resolution to the highest setting
