Compressor wont start back up
your motor start capacitor is bad, look for it on side of motor and for signs of bulging, leaking heat stress condition
Honda 5.5 hp air comp. no spark wont run
Most honda engines have an oil sensor that prevents the engine from starting if the oil level is low or oil is dirty. Test coil by disconnecting oil sensor wire. With sensor disconnected coil should fire. If still no fire, check kill wire for short. If still no spark, coil may need to be replaced. enjoy
Honda gx 390 only starts when it feels like it
Sometimes you have to lower the air pressure in the tank to allow it to run. The back pressure from the compressed air in the compressor head overcomes the pressure created in the engine at the slow RPMs you are able to pull while attempting to crank it.
How do I replace starter
It is possible to replace the cord without fully disassembling the starter mechanism - by threading the cord in and tying a not in the end - but after rotating it several turns to put the proper tension on the spring. This is relatively safe but may be frustrating as 3 hands are sometimes needed.
My air compressor starts fine but dies about 2
An 8 hp motor? Is that 220 volt, 440 volt,?? Is the motor getting hot? That would pull quite a few amps on 220, you need to check your wiring to see if it's big enough, I would guess you would need 8 gauge or bigger---check with an electrician.
Battery to starter motor.
Just to be clear, the starter should have a large terminal (where the battery cable connects) and a smaller terminal (where the activation wire connects)
The starter is grounded via the mounting bolts.
The activation wire runs from the starter to the starter switch.

Gas Engine shuts down after maxium air pressor is reached
hi yor problem seems to be that your machine is running too high a pressure, try adjusting your unloader valve so that your pressure is no more than 120psi , if that fails then check and replace your non return valve
please let me know how you get on best of look
I want to clean the carburetor on my air
WHY do you want to clean the carb? If you have no problem, leave it alone. If you are concerned about old fuel in it, there is a bowl on bottom of the carb about 2" in Doameter. There is a bolt in the middle of the bowl that retains it. ( 10mm as I recall) remove the bolt and bowel. Clean out the bowl with a little mineral spirits or solvet and reassemble.
Note, turn off the fuel from the fuel tank before removin g the bowl
good luck
Installing push rod guide
I have worked on many gx160 engines and have found that the most economical way to repair an engine with worn valves/guides is to replace the complete head with a clone usually available on ebay for around 60 bucks or so. A honda gx runs perfect with a new clone head. To repair the head properly you need special tools to cut/shape re-seat etc. Then when you consider the cost of honda parts and the chance of making an error, well even the best small engine mechanics make bad calls. However on the other hand, there is great pleasure in rebuilding an engine that has given you great service. Small engine parts/supply outlets like Rotary inc. sell valve guide cutter kit that comes with instructions. You should also use new valves and cut the valve seats.(another kit) If all you want is a great running motor, consider the clone head. Good Luck on your project.
How do make air compressor shut off at your desired air pressure
You compressor has a pilot valve that controls the tank pressure and the speed of the engine. Locate the brass pilot valve, (It has a flip lever that unloads the compressor) you will notice that it has two locking nuts that allow for adjustment when loosened. Loosen the small lock nut and turn the upper-most part of the pilot valve out to reduce pressure, in to increase pressure. Hope this helps, enjoy.
Kicking overloads but not consistantly
First: Most all compessors use check valves at the tank and an unloader to allow the compressor to start without a load. Make sure that system is unloading and that check valve is not leaking causing head pressure at start. Second: Too frequent starts and stops will cause motor to overheat. Check Quincy manual for max starts per hour. enjoy
I need a head valve seat for central pneumatic 21 degree angle framing nailer model 60828 also need headvalve seat for 34 degree angle finish nailer 68020
I have not been able to purchase replacement parts for these nail guns , however, have repaired them using parts from Bostitch framers and or just make the part. If the seal fits over the top of the cylinder, then try using seal from Bostitch framer part #N70155 fits a bit tight but works. Heat with a hair dryer to soften and install. If the seat is incorporated within the head valve, just dig it out and replace it with liquid two part urethane. Just mix and pour it in. After cleaning out the old seal, place head valve on level surface and pour in the mixed urethane till slightly over full to give the seal a nice crown. The finish nailer might also be repaired using other brand of seals. Remove the old part and take it to service center for a possible match. Good luck with your repair.
