Space heater stopped working
First, check the warranty to see if it still in effect. I suspect a bad contact, broken control or problem with the heater element connections. If there is no physical damage from being dropped, tripped over, etc., then something like this would be a manufacturing defect (premature failure). If it's out of warranty, and you know how to use a multimeter, you could unplug the heater and start checking the continuity of the parts and wiring inside.
IIcant find parts for the holmes heaters. Who carries them?
I have the same problem. I mean it keeps going off prematurely. The heating area is relatively clean and there is no reason for this other than the Thermal Circuit Breaker to be going bad.
I too have fruitlessly tried to find the part. It is made by Klixon and the info about it is as follows: 1NT15L-4165 It is a manual reset bimetal temperature circuit breaker. Mine says L86 L = Limit and 86 I believe represents 86 degrees Celsius which is about 187 degrees F for us Americans.
I found the Klixon people and they told me the part was not available through them; but only through Holmes themselves. So, I of course called Holmes Customer Service.
Turns out that I had a little spat with Holmes' CS Jerky... She informed me that Holmes does not sell parts and that the heaters they build and sell are not serviceable. So, I argued that they are irresponsible with regard to the environment. What, it's supposed to go to a landfill now?
But she insisted that this was so that people didn't start fires with their heaters. And she says that she has two young girls at home and wouldn't want anyone burning down their house and killing their family. So I guess after all that has nothing to do with her keeping her job by Holmes selling me another $79 heater, huh?? lol Yeah right!!! Because the guy at corporate would not want one of their heaters to start a fire. That wouldn't be an acceptable risk to make money. (Sarcasm, in case you missed it)
On another note... It's real unfortunate that you have to take the HQH307 completely apart to clean the heating area so as to not have the heater be a fire hazard. But I'm a risk to my family by taking the thing apart and then removing the two retaining screws out and two wire leads off to replace the malfunctioning part. WTF??? Since I can't get the part I suppose I could just bypass the circuit breaker. I know that's not a good idea.
Well, bottom line is, (can ya take a guess?), that I will not be buying another Holmes Heater EVER!!! Thanks Holmes...
Answer: As far as I know you cannot get the part.
