This sounds like you said it worked fine for about 50 miles, now you can't get it to turn over and start? Have You checked to see if fuel pump is working, or if You are getting gas to engine?

I suggest replacing the wire harness.

What happens when you try to start? Be specific.

Trace the supply line back, checking for voltage as you go along. When you find the correct voltage the break in the line will be between the last point you checked and the place where you got the correct reading.

Check all of the fuses and relays.

It may be a bad diaphram. Replace the pump.

LOOK AT IGNITION SWITCH IT HAS A PIN THAT HOLDS TUMBLER FOR KEY. DEPRESS PIN AND YOU CAN REMOVE TUMBLER, PULL IT OUT AND HOOK IT BACK TO WIRE HARNESS. JUST USE A SCREWDRIVER TO START AS USUAL.

1. 18436572 is the firing Order. Rotor turns counterclockwise
2. The number 1 position is found by turning the engine to tdc on the #1 cylinder,removing the cap and seeing where the rotor is pointing. This will be the number one position. Hope this helps.

just open you're ignition and and use a test light to see which wires are live and swop them

rust or loose earth connection , wiper switch inner terminals and contacts worn

Go to Autozone.com and add your vehicle and use the reference material there to get your pickup going again.

This is not a pump question.The flasher is probably mounted on or near the fuse panel. Should be a round can plugged in to a three wire connector. About one inch tall, and one inch diameter.

Electronic ignition correct? If memory serves me, there is a start circuit and a run circuit for those older Fords. The run circuit could be bad in the electronic ignition.If coil was bad it would not run or even fire. The only question is, is the ignition switch working properly, you can test that with a volt meter. If it is, change the electronic ignition module under the hood.
