How do you set the clock
Unplug it, then when you plug it back in it is on the default screen for set time, turn dial to right for hours will advance up starts at 00, advanced to 01, 02, and same for min. when you are at say 9 press / push in main knob 1x to advance to minutes, and advances to next input so hours, minutes, then am pm pushing button after dialing to am or pm finishes and sets the time. GE over the range microwave buzzing then blowing fuse
If the buzzing is like the sound of someone using an arc welding then the is a possible loose connection on the high voltage side- from the HV transformer to the magnetron.
Be very careful. The HV capacitor can give you an electric shock even when power is OFF.
Moisture between glasses on door.
Since microwaves act directly on moisture, this should tell you that it isn't causing any leakage from the cavity/cabinet of the unit.
If microwaves were passing through the moisture, it would eventually dry out completely
I don't believe there is any reason for concern.
Even bad gaskets (seals) around the edge of the door do not cause leakage.
Only a mechanically bent door could cause this and it would still be very minor.
The cooking enclosure itself is what is called a 'tuned cavity' and as such, contains the bulk of the energy internally.
Change lightbulb
most times you have to take the outer case off (the stainless steel part) and then you can see all the wires circuitry etc. thats how you get to the light bulb. make sure you unplug the microwave first and do not touch where it says electric shock hazard it will shock you even if not plugged in
GE microwave with error code of PF and won't heat anything up
The "PF" on any appliance indicates a power failure. So if you lost power in a recent storm, this would cause your problem. Pressing the cancel button should clear up your problem, and put you back in business. If not, unplug the unit, plug it back in and try the cancel button again. If trouble persists, your board is probably at fault.
Is there a replacement microwave for a GE JE1540,
Called GE Customer Service (thanks MicrowaveSvc), as they were very helpful. The replacement microwave (GE) is: JEB1860DMWW with new trim kit: JX2030DMWW. This are P/N for white, I am sure they have something for other than white. Total job took me about 5 hours (self install, moderate ability), where the final 1 to 1.5 hours was working on the final trim kit install. Couple of notes. This oven is about 6 to 8 inches deeper. The kit wanted about 1.5 inches more horizontal space than my original install, but I made it work. I had to shimmy the vertical space by 1 inch. Good Luck!!!
