I have a GE stove that has a red light for HOT SURFACE

The control switch for the right front burner is bad. A new switch will solve the problem.
The situation,while annoying is not dangerous.

not much around scrap vale but someone may be willing to pay for the older units as they give less trouble Advertise it for what you consider a price then see what happens

We used the self cleaning mode on our GE electric range and after it was done cleaning and cooling off it does not function at all. Circuit breaker is working we unplug and replug. Still will work.

Plug your model number into searspartsdirect and look for a thermal fuse. It is most usually located behind the oven. Pull the range out and remove the back panel. Find the fuse and check for continuity.
