I can help you reset and fix your Garmin Nuvi 265W.

Getting stuck on the flashing Garmin logo, or a message about not finding any maps, are indications that the firmware / system software inside your GPS has been corrupted. Don't skip the hard reset step (or the backup step!)

There are three steps to take to get your Nuvi 265W running like new:

1. Back up your Favorites.
2. Perform a Hard Reset.
3. Download and then run Garmin WebUpdater to replace its firmware / system software.

Hi, it looks like your GPS has somehow reset to the marine locating function. did you check the settings and go thru all the choices that may have been modified ?

Very easy to fix the problem. When you plug in the Garmin Nuvi 200 to your computer, two drives will show up . Go to the Garmin drive and click on voice file, delete all the languages except for the one you want to use (i.e. American USA), this will give you all the 37 Megs you need to download 2009 maps. Takes a while to download using the web updater that you need to download into your computer from Garmin, but I had no problems.

To reset the unit, pry off the silver faceplate.
Turn the unit on using the power button on the right side.
Press the reset button that was hidden behind the face plate.
The GPS unit should restart, and display its software version.
Make a note of the software version in case you have to call customer service.
To acquire satellites make sure the GPS has a clear view of the sky.

Go to Garmin and download and install Garmin Express, Plug your GPS into your PC. The GPS should power on and Garmin Express should identify it and tell you of any updates. This would allow your to install new maps. You did not delete your internal memory, you deleted your internal maps. Moving the maps from internal to external memory cannot be done on your PC and have them work. Not sure... try spell check first. Then try updating Garmin Express to the newest version. If that doesn't fix it, you can get the extra voices from the Garmin Garage online instead of Garmin Express: http://www8.garmin.com/vehicles/voices/#free

I just got off the phone with tech support. They have a very complicated fix that involves remote accessing into your computer and editing files, etc. They said it would take over an hour and a half, I declined. The problem apparently is that the nuvi 200/205 can't support canada, but the maps contain canada = problem. and btw, i downloaded "City Navigator Lower 49 States+PR NT 2010.10, Deluxe, Apr 09" and got the same problem. this filename ends in a "B", apparently that's the "fixed one" but acc tech support it's only fixed in the sense that they can waste over an hr w' u fixing it, whereas the older files are unfixable.
I'm just gonna wait til they really fix it and upload those files.

If your unit needs servicing, your best bet is to contact Garmin. It is not set up similarly enough to your PC for you to be able to repair it.

When encountering errors such as "No Map Data Available" and Garmin Express does not recognize your Garmin nuvi, check to see if your Garmin nuvi is out of storage space from your computer. Solution related to the fact that when brought up as the E: drive in windows there were 0 bytes free space on the Garmin nuvi. To get Garmin Express to recognize a unit which is full, do a search on the Windows Drive (E:) for "gmap" then choose "Open file location" This will get into the hidden ".system" directory. From there, delete the largest file map, such as "gmapprom" (or move this file to your hard drive). Afterward, reboot your computer to have Garmin Express software recognize your Garmin nuvi. On older units, also purchase a microSDHC card to be able to store the newest maps, such as the US & Canada 2.6Gb map file, which will not fit on the internal unit alone or a 2Gb card. The Garmin Express software will recognize 4Gb to 32Gb microSDHC Class 10 or UHS-I cards formatted to FAT32 and install the newest maps automatically to them. Some have reported that 4Gb cards are not large enough. I had used a 16Gb SanDisk Ultra PLUS UHS-I card ($10.88 Walmart) successfully on my Garmin nuvi 1450LMT

Your Garmin 330 came with the North American map installed on it. Canada is included.

I fixed my C530 on my own. Garmin support will not give you this solution.
I attached the GPS to the computer with the usb cable. I used the file explorer in windows to view the file system on the GPS. I sorted the files by date. Then I moved the files that had a newer date than the last time the GPS worked, to an backup folder on my computer in case I need to restore the files to the GPS again. I than disconnected the GPS from the computer and restarted the GPS. The GPS works perfect now and doesn't enter the demo mode any longer.
