My furuno depth finder gives me crazy depth

Turbulence on the transducer is almost certain. If transom mounted, **** it slightly deeper aft and ensure that the leading edge is not exposed. If through hull, call me 847-746-0100

Ca I buy a 5 metre extension cable as the 10 metre cable that came with the 1623 is too short?

Quite sorry but Furuno does not carry "extension" cables for radar antenna signal cables. If the original cable is too short, you would need to obtain a 15M whole cable, furuno part number 001-122-870-10. Or the 20M whole cable part number 000-144-565. You might be able to find a technician willing to custom manufacture an extension for you but I emphasize the word might.Regards,John

Note that the installation menus disappear if they are not accessed for five minutes!.

I have a furuno FCV295

If you reset it and while in the Initial Settings" Menu, you press menu, it should take you to the transducer setup screen. These menus allow for "Transducer Type" to be changed to your exact transducer. See the "Installation Manual", which is different than the "Operators Manual". Section 3 page 9 and 10. You may have to enter your units of measure (Knots vs MPH, etc), and then it will allow you to choose the transducer type. Hope this helps. John Barry, 847-746-0100, technicalmarine.com.

My Furuno gp1650wf chartplotter is

Congratulations the device is within functionality. As a matter of fact devices without shark lense are least impactful. For example, the device may least capture images or receive data in realtime however provides accurate flight resources.

I have GP 7000 F,

Hi markm263,

Have you already tried resetting the system? This can help you address the issue however, doing it will delete all tracks, waypoints and routes and all default menu settings are restored. If you are willing to restore the system to default settings here's how:

1. Turn the power on while holding the [CLEAR] key down.
2. Release the [CLEAR] key when you hear the beep.
3. Rotate the [ENTER] knob to choose "RAM menu" and then push the [ENTER] knob.
4. Rotate the [ENTER] knob to choose "RAM clear" and then push the [ENTER] knob.
The message "Are you sure?" appears.
5. Push the [ENTER] knob to clean the memory.
The equipment restarts automatically.

Hope it helps.

Thank you for using FixYa.

No heading pulse

Open the dome cover and check the belt that spins the array. Sometimes the gear on the motor that holds the belt comes loose and will not spin the array. I have seen this on 4 radars and all were about the same age. The gear has a small allen head set screw. Move the gear down and tighten the screw down. If you are still having issues there are some more troubleshooting techniques you can do, but you will need a multimeter to test voltages coming from the display.

Have a "no heading pulse" appearing on my sceen

The radar array inside is probably not spinning or the belt has slipped off.
