Can you recover digital photos that were saved on

You may recover photos from camera with asoftech photo recovery which helped me before. You can download trial for freehttp://download.cnet.com/Asoftech-Photo-Recovery/3000-12511_4-10913438.html?part=dl-10913438&subj=dl&tag=buttonPlease be noted that your camera memory should show as a drive letter in your explorer, if not, you need to take out your memory card and connect using a card reader, or plug-in to card reader slot if there's any on your computer.

My lens is stuck inside and is not cuming out even

Hello

The problem is that the lens has become stuck in the barrel after dropping it. There are some DIY solutions you could try, but the probability is that you will have to get it fixed by a professional.

Use these at own risk as it may further damage the camera.

Firstly , try connecting your ac adapter or usb cable.

Try holding the shutter button while switching on the camera.

Look at the lens , and if some of the lens 'circles' is misaligned or not concentric then try wiggling it (while holding camera lens down).

Try gently pushing or pulling the lens when it extends but this is risky as it may cause the lens barrel to slip out of its guidance system.

Another way to do this is to place the camera lens down on a hard surface and then power it up. Be sure to use a soft cloth or something similar as to not scratch your lens or casing. Let the lens push the camera up and down a few times and sometimes the little resistance provided by the camera is enough to get things going again.

Try hitting your camera near the lens on the body with the soft tissue on the palm of your hand.

Other than that , I would take the camera to a repair center for a evaluation to see if it would cost more to repair than to replace the camera.

If it is still under warranty I would suggest you take it in before trying any of these steps and remove any off-brand batteries or accessories as some stores are really fussy about warranty repairs on camera's with non-brand accessories.

Hope the advise is useful.

Regards
Andrea

My screen is black

Does the screen work in menu mode or playback? If so then the shutter may be stuck in the closed position. Compact and bridge cameras work on "live view". The picture is live feed from the lens. Obstruction to the sensor (usually the shutter) will prevent live view.

Sharpening techniques??

I have been using a bit of edge sharpening lately in combination with smaller & smaller amounts of overall USM. I know Thom Hogan's CD for the S2 had his version as a PS Action and there are others that do the same around. I eventually made my own custom action for it. Can be used most effectively to sharpen an image while leaving noisy areas alone.

CAMERA GOT WET WHEN BTL OF WINE BROKE IN SAME BAG.

Hi,
I am afraid that there is only a small percentage of luck that your camera isn't destroyed. If it was in the bag with the wine for a long time then the wine certainly went into the camera circuits.
What you can do is take it to an electronics service shop and ask them if they could open it, remove the components and clean them with special solutions to remove the sticky wine.
Hope it works.

Video playback problems on pc

Jerky play back on a PC is determined by a few things. Video card memory, RAM, CPU processor speed, and *codec*. VLC has it's own codec so does not rely on the ones supplied by Windows. If even VLC is playing it back choppy, try lowering the video resolution. It may be too high for the video card to handle. Perhaps you don't have enough RAM to run the file at it's full resolution. Reduce background tasks or close them using the task manager. Upgrade your video card, add more RAM. If you can't add RAM or a video card - either reduce the resolution setting on the camera for next time, or use the HDMI port on the camera to directly playback video to a HDMI device. *codec* - "A codec is a device or computer program capable of encoding or decoding a digitaldata stream or signal" - Wiki

Accidentally Formatted SmartMedia card!

You're right. Formatting in-camera will only reset the two File Allocation Tables, which act as a pointer to where the data really resides. The data (pictures) should remain safe until they are overwritten (the File Allocation Tables will have been marked to show their positions as being overwriteable). There are lots of solutions, the most expensive, is to send the card to a data recovery place (I don't know from your profile, where you are, but Fuji UK has a very good data recovery department, for just such a problem). Another way, is to use data recovery software. These, on the whole, work very well, and vary in price from zero, to a few hundred bucks. I've found little difference in quality between them. However, the easiest and currently most popular, seems to be F-Recovery... http://www.filerecoverytools.com/products/fr_smartmedia/ It is no better than most of the freeware tools out there, it's just easier for a novice to follow.
