Not sure. I thought overdrive was an additional gear ratio for a car. The Mp3 player is generally a passive device except when playing a file, that means it has to be loaded with files by an active device. Usually the required files are downloaded onto an active device and then the files can be sent, usually via usb, from the device to the Mp3 player. The audio source, whether disc, vinyl or internet is a passive device and can't be loaded or downloaded or processed into usable files without commands from a active device. So far I have found a desktop computer or laptop to be the ideal active device...

battery failure

There are many different video formats and some players will only play certain formats. Check which formats the player will play. Then look at the formats that it wont play. If the player won't play those that it's supposed to, then you will have a problem. If it does play them and not others, then you need to remove those files it won't and get then converted to ones that can play on your player. There is free software available to convert files on a computer. But some might want to charge you for converting common file types.

They usually have to be turned off to charge

Return it for one that works. I have no problem returning items that are defective or inoperable for one that works as designed. The are no serviceable parts, items are throw away wen no longer working. I have had players fail after years of service so I replaced them, there are 3 players in my drawer that I use

1. Defective battery 2. Defective charger

use cable connect it to USB port, open file explorer, select device, right click select open now you are there. Follow instructions that came with player.
