The machine turns on and off by itself. I turned it on after a month a was able to keep it on long enough to download one of ten updates and then it turned off. What could be the problem?

When the CPU overheats then it will shut down (i.e. thermal overload) and won't boot up again until it has cooled down. If this is the problem is not fixed then the CPU will eventually fail. A faulty fan causes the problem or the fan and heat sink assembly are clogged with dust. Check the CPU fan to see if it spins freely, if not replace the fan. If the fan and heat sink is clogged with dust the remove the dust and make sure the vents are clear and dust free. Use a small brush and can of compressed air to do this.

I added a dvd+/-r drive to my e machine T3065. I cannot get the system to write to the drive. I can read a cd on the drive but cannot copy anything to the drive any suggestions?

Reloaded the factory restoration disk? You rock!Haven't heard of anyone who still has their disk, for YEARS now! I imagine the DVD burner software was probably Nero.Nero's good. But I would like to recommend a free burner software. One I have used for years. (When I use it, lol!)Infra Recorder,Home page,http://infrarecorder.org/Screenshots,1) http://infrarecorder.org/?page_id=42) http://infrarecorder.org/images/screenshot_main.png3) Download page,http://infrarecorder.org/?page_id=5You have to have DVD burner software, in order to copy with a DVD drive. (Or CD burner drive)One more thing glancing at your problem heading you stated;I do not see DVD-R/W, listed. It has to be a Read/Write DVD unit, in order to copy. A DVD 'Burner'.Post back in a Comment. Also would appreciate if you would post the DVD drive manufacturer, and it's model number.Regards, joecoolvette[Motherboard used in an eMachines T3065 is an FIC AU31.Also known as K7MNF18G,http://www.geeks.com/details.asp?invtid=AU31-WB(Just for reference, not advertising)2) http://www.elhvb.com/mboards/OEM/eMachines/manuals/index.htmlClick on FIC AU31 in blue, for the motherboard manual.(PDF file. May take as much as 30 seconds, before the first page comes up. There is a way to save a copy to your computer. This way you can burn it to CD disk, and delete it from your computer to save harddrive space. {Once you have checked out the copy, that is)

WARNING: Before you start troubleshooting remember that you are dealing with electricity that can KILL.

http://www.kitchentablecomputers.com/static.php - rules

Test all power and data leads that attach to your hard drive IDE,SATA

the leads from your (motherboard to your hard drive) make sure they have secure dust free connections and are not faulty or just replace them they might be faulty

if its a 40 pin flat ribbon type it will be the first to fail

make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd 3 1/2 inch floppy have secure connections and are not faulty

even something as small as a faulty electrical fan and its lead can cause you problems

computers need all power and data to continue through every working device and to have an end so any faulty leads will end up with a computer error

make sure your graphics card is securely seated with no dust built up or in the socket

if you remove your graphics check the socket to make sure its dust free

restart your computer then reinstall it this should activate found new hardware wizard

hope this helps

Is the NIC card replaceable?

Open PC up and re-seat if not integrated with mother board. But yes, easily replaceable even if yours is integrated. Simply pop a new one into expansion slot. Check slots before you purchase one.

I'm getting no sound on my emachines E19T6W computer

if your computer came with a motherboard disc the sound drivers could be on it

click start control panel administrative tools computer management device manager scroll to sound video and game controllers you might see a yellow question exclamation mark? ! or a red X Right click to reinstall drivers

click start control panel sounds and audio volume advanced speakers make sure you have selected the

(appropriate speakers) also audio you will find 3 drop down lists make sure you have selected the correct speaker settings there

click start control panel sounds and audio devices select advanced there might be a tick in the mute box untick it

if his does not fix the problem

click start control panel sounds and audio devices you can adjust the volume there also select speaker volume you can change your settings there you can also tick in the box place icon in taskbar for any further volume control settings you will need to right click on the speaker volume icon system select adjust volume

click start control panel sounds and audio volume advanced speakers select the appropriate speakers

from the drop down list or navigate to the device manager scroll to system devices + to expand system speaker right click properties then select use this device (enable) also you might check

the speaker plug/outlets is usually at the back of the computer or if its a laptop on the side

you will have to open up the computer to check the lead attached to the rear of the input plug make sure the connection is good with no dust as dust causes static electricity

clean your computer of dust using a fine air blower from a compressor making VERY sure that there is no MOISTURE in the air line specifically around the sound card and the CPU central processing unit dust causes static to build up in a computer

hope this helps

It's easy to fix this problem. Stop using the audio chipset on the motherboard, and install a Sound Card.
