How do I take apart the speakers to fix a broken

A unit like this is probably not designed for disassembly or repair. Possibly the grill can be pried off and then access gained from the front by removing a speaker. Or possibly not. If you want to save this unit you may have to get surgical as far as cutting or drilling your way in. Keep in mind that you'll need to mend any openings you make in the case when you are done, to preserve the unit's acoustic properties. Epoxy may be your friend there.

Dell Jukebox Rescue Mode Have read other posts but still need help

Back it up to a computer and do a full factory reset. I just read your question tagged onto an old post. You should not be using this device to store important class notes. It is so old it could fail at any time. Notice in the link what Dell says in the manual Whenever I turn my Dell DJ on, it starts up in Rescue Mode. Your Dell DJ's firmware or operating system may be damaged. Go to support.dell.com for the .. https://www.google.com/search?q=Dell+Jukebox+Rescue+Mode ..

How do i hook up a Dell A425 subwoofer to a

describing a pin-out to people who are not electrical engineers is like explaining to someone how to build a clock when they asked what time it is. Looking at the orange VGA connector on the back, which two holes have the wires that go to the two sides of speaker wire for the subwoofer? Do i have to do anything else to make it just work like a simple speaker and just be controlled by the amplifier (receiver)? Like seriously, am I asking it simply enough? Which two holes in the orange female vga plug on the back of the subwoofer correspond to the + and - speaker wires that go to the "subwoofer" hookup on the back of my stereo? I don't care about what each pin does because those words don't mean anything. I don't understand. WHICH. TWO. WIRES. and then is there anything else i have to do like stick a paperclip from one hole to another and hope it doesn't explode? Also, I don't know what the numbers of the holes are. so saying "pin 9" or whatever is meaningless without a diagram. thank you for my ted talk.

Lpcs244789

The correct battery for the gen 2 dell dj is the lpcs 244789. Nobody seems to have them on ebay or amazon as of oct 2016. Maybe my friend and I are the only two people still using dj. Note that other batteries would work but won't physically fit in the case. (I tried!) I finally found the correct battery from Alie express and ordered. Note also that shipping will take a month to US. https://www.aliexpress.com/wholesale?catId=0&initiative_id=SB_20160923211539&SearchText=LPCS244789

Dell Pocket DJ does not charge using USB Cord

If you find none of this has worked you need to try some other decvie in the same usb port. If it is plugged in and operates correctly, you have narrowed it down to the dj unit. Since the chord has tested good, we should go to the unit itself. Four tiny screws located on the outside of the case need to be removed in order to open it. Carefully remove the hard drive, then the battery.

Now with the cable hooked up to the usb port you will use a meter to check some voltages. Perhaps you have a friend who can help. The batteries should read 3.6 VDC. Measured like that its not a true indication of the state of the batteries, but tell us that the charging circuit is probably working okay.

Put it back together carefully, making sure every connection is properly seated and there is no damage. Try it again, making sure you hold down the button for 3-4 seconds. If you have done all of this, the problem is electronic and at a component level. Suggest you take it or send it to the repair shop dell has.

Limited volume on speakers. Worked well previously.

Guys,

In case my nickname does not show, this is treefarmer. I had the same problem and decided to fix it myself over this Christmas. I was successful, and here is what I found.

In my case, the problem lies with the volume control chip ( it has a voltage controlled amplifier, or VCA in it) on the main amplifier board. The voltage which controls the volume for all channels comes from the right front speaker. There is an issue with the I.C., in that it has some abnormal loading (leakage) of the volume control signal at the I.C. pin. You need about 5.2 volts for full volume output, and on my system, I can only get about 1 volt. You can find the IC data sheet (Mitsubishi M51132L) here:

datasheet.html">http://www.datasheetarchive.com/M51132L-datasheet.html

The parts inside the enclosure get quite hot under normal operation, and I would not be surprised if this I.C. has an issue with degradation under high temperature. Regardless of the problem, I managed to get the volume back with one simple fix.

If you can open up the right front speaker, place a 10 kohm resistor in parallel with R1, which should have three orange stripes, and one gold stripe. This fixed mine, but this might only be temporary, depending on how much worse the volume control I.C. becomes.

I did check out the power supply, including transformers and everything else, and they all look fine. It would surprise me if the transformer failed as has been posted in other forums. They should be able to survive higher temperatures than the other electronic components in the box, especially when most of them are consumer grade parts with a max temperature of 70 C. One thing of note is that turning off the right front speaker pretty much shuts off most of the quiescent current draw of the amplifier board. I found that with only the sub cabinet switch on, nothing gets warm. You won't see significant warming of the interior components until you turn on the right front speaker. However, then the inside of the sub enclosure gets pretty hot (too hot in my opinion) just sitting there with all the speakers powered up.

I would recommend at least turning off the Right Front speaker when the computer is powered down. More often if you are not listening to anything. I don't think you need to shut off the sub enclosure to keep things cool, but turning off everything ensures that the amp is not sitting there cooking itself. And, unless Altec has changed the design, I would bet new systems will fail in the same manner.

For what that's worth. Hopefully somebody will find this helpful

I have Dell speakers, hp tower, I can't get sound out of speakers. Do I plug both the usb plug & speaker plug into tower?

If there is no separate power supply the usb plug must be used in order to provide power for the speakers, but whether the analogue cable must be plugged in or not will depend on the internal construction and specification of the speakers. I suggest you initially use the usb and if there is no sound and no on-screen instructions, plug in the analogue line. If there is a separate power supply the speakers are probably and either/or design.
