Only power light glowing remaing
That could mean the system is not booting correctly. If the admin page is not accesible, the wifi is not working and no LED is glowing when you plug an ethernet cable to either in LAN or WAN port, you'll need to reset the router (you will loose all your settings) to the factory settings.
You'll need something thin, needle or a pen, the reset button is on the back side near AC plug, push and hold the button until the LEDs start blinking randomly (usualy 20 to 30 seconds).
Then follow the steps in the manual from manufacturer, you'll how to setup the router as you had to when you bought it as new.
DIR-857 cannot connect to internet
First check the LAN cable between the devices and try another cable. Reboot both devices.
The final solution is a factory reset of your router. You can do a factory reset by logging into the router using you browser. Go to the settings and perform a factory reset
If you forgot the router password, you ill have to do a factory reset by locating a small hold on the back of the router and insert the tip of of paper clip for about 10 seconds while the power is on. The router will be reset to out of box status and then you can set-up form scratch.
